DH and I have decided that we would like to head to Orlando on an earlier flight if possible. We called JetBlue and the price increase to change to an earlier flight is not feasible, however, the person on the phone said that the availability looked really good right now to go on standby for the flight on Wednesday morning. She told me to call back 24 hours before the flight takes off and that they will add us to the standby list at that point and it would not cost a thing. Has anyone here ever done that? I would love to hear your experiences with this. Thank you...

I flew stand-by once on Jet Blue. I was on the last flight of the day and I got to the airport early and asked to be put on standby for the flight leaving right before mine, and I got on. It was easy. I was worried about my luggage getting to Orlando with me but everything worked out great.

I would suggest calling exactly 24 hours in advance if you know you want to try to get on an earlier flight, that way you will most likely be first on the standby list and have a better chance of getting on the flight.
