Have You Ever Formally Protested or Boycotted Anything?

Protested/marched against Vietnam war. Chicago 1968. Before during and after the DNC. Luckily I had the good sense to not march down Michigan Ave. where the violence erupted.

I would not say boycotted or protested, but back when i lived in CA I watched the Kids Choice Awards because of a band, i liked was going to win and should have won but did't after the show was over. During the credits it pretty much said the tv show people could change the vote no matter what, yeah if it was 500 to 500 the band i liked had 2 million votes and the band that won had 1 million. That day i learned any award show that have people vote is fake.

I can't recall boycotting or protesting. Honestly I thought about going Saturday since there was a local one but I knew I just couldn't handle the intense crowds (claustrophobia). I'm sure I stopped going to a store here and there just don't really remember. As to Hobby Lobby I need to look that one up. I've never been to one primarily since I don't have one nearby. My daughter was given clay from there and my dh was mad when he found out where it was from. I'm not a fan of chick filet but again it isn't a local place so I can't say I avoid it but probably would if it were nearby.

I thought the Market Basket protest was great. I may have joined in but the store near me was built but didn't open until after the boycott ended. In high school my senior year I had a study hall 3 days a week as my last class (other two were science lab days). I boycotted the study hall if that counts. I was raised that not to cross a picket line no matter how you feel so I've never done that but honestly have very rarely even seen a picket line.

I think this may be the best post on the thread
Your prerogative. I will stick with my original choice. The arguments did not dissuade me.

In the spirit of today's DIS, since we don't agree do you now need to tell I am full of hate?

The only thing I remember is during the first semester freshman year at college. Due to some quirk in the calendar that year, one of the Reading Days during exam week was cancelled. Many upperclassmen were up in arms about it and led demonstrations and protests on campus. (They could have spent the time studying instead). The only reason I joined in was for the social aspect.

And I suppose I "boycott" some restaurants or stores where I've received bad food or rotten service.

A little too grandiose to call them actual "boycotts" but there are several things/places that will never get 1 thin dime of my money.

1. Any entertainment involving Penn Jilette or any advertisers I become aware of that sponser him.
2. Maybelline cosmetics.
3. Any advertisers I become aware of that sponsor The Good Place tv show.
4. Any movie Liam Neeson is in.

Probably lots more that I've just crossed off my list over the years and am so accustomed to not using/buying/viewing/going to that I can't even recall.

The Dis is "social media". ;)

Touché. :D

Funny thing is that places like this are where I hear about events. Like I mentioned before, I haven't watched/listened to any news in a really, really long time. It's not a boycott thing, just don't want to. I wind up hearing about things on this board, or when listening to sports talk radio that will make quick reference to an event that happened.
