Have you ever stayed at Fort Wilderness and walked/ride your bike to Wilderness Lodge to use their pool? I know it's not "allowed", but how would they know?

Maybe you all riding up on bikes might give them a clue..:lmao:
But seriously I beleive they check room id, if I'm not mistaken, if I'm mistaken someone else will set the record straight. I haven't stayed at FTW yet I will be doing that for the first time in April but I do think they have a nice big pool for all of us.

Yes, Pool Hopping is not allowed. That is one of the rules and whether you abide by it is up to your own set of values regarding rules and regulations.

but how would they know?

My kids used to use this excuse. I would respond that we are guests and as responsible members of society we should follow all of their rules, regardless of whether they find out or not. The result is that my children have grown into responsible adults who respect other people's property and the rules they establish for the use of that property.

I didnt think I was the only one that said those kinds of things. Nice to know I am not alone. :thumbsup2

I was asked on two different trips to the Wilderness Lodge for proof that I was staying there. We showed them our room key and they did not ask for proof the rest of the week. It seems they have a good memory and know who they asked before.

We were also asked once while staying at the Polynesian. I was so glad I belonged there, I would have been so embarassed to get up and leave.

I'm a DVC member and we're allowed to hop under certain restrictions (and we need to show our membership card). But I have to tell you that I don't want to go to the effort to go that far when a pool is right there at FW. And even though members have that right, I still feel as if I'm taking away from the other resort's guests. Not worth the effort when the only reason I'm swimming is to get wet.

We did it once a couple of years ago. I didn't realize you couldn't do it. We were never asked for our room keys.

I think that the only times they might ask you for your key is if it is a high peak season time. I don't do it mostly because it's not worth the effort. But, I also don't think it's the "big crime" or moral issue that some want to make it out to be. Also, as much as Disney is charging for the cabins and even camp sites, they should redo the pool. Every other resort has a themed pool, slides etc. Not saying that just because the pool is bad, that it is ok to pool hop. But, perhaps if there was a decent pool at FW, then people wouldn't be tempted.

Ive never been asked to show ID at a pool and Ive gone in the summer.

When we were down in August, we asked about this same thing. 2 different cast members told us that if we were staying at the campground, we could use the pool at Wilderness Lodge. My boys rode their bikes over there a few times without any trouble at all.
