I had some tears for John Ritter & Princess Diana.

So sad about Natasha....

The first person I ever cried over was Aaliyah... She was so young, so beautiful and talented.... I do remember though, that when Sept 11th happened, a part of me was at peace that she didn't have to witness that. Odd, I know....not like I knew her.

THen, I cried when JOhn Travoltas son Jett died....just to see the pictures, and losing a child. So sad :sad1:

Kurt Cobain. I was driving home from school and the news came on the radio. I had to pull over on the side of the road. I'm actually getting a little choked up just thinking about it.

Phil Hartman was another one that got me. I was in college, and I remember locking myself in my apartment and watching news coverage for (what felt like) days. He was (and still is) one of my favorite actors.

I cried for John Lennon( alot) I remember being just devastated.
Princess Diana, I cried mostly during the funeral. George Harrison, (I'm a Beatles fan if you can't tell) and both space shuttle tragedies: Challenger and Columbia astronauts, so terribly sad.:sad2: Oh, and Steve Irwin, his memorial was heartbreaking.

Steve Irwin is the only one.

We adopted ds when he was two and one of the first games we used to play together was pretending to hunt crocodiles.

We'd sit on the floor in our pretend boat and row through the jungle. Ds would eventually scoot back into my lap and act excited, afraid, and brave all at once while pointing with his cute little pudgy fingers to the snakes hanging in the vines and the elephants drinking water, saying "look mama!"

Along the way we'd find injured baby tigers hiding under the desk and we'd bandage them up and watch them run back to their mommies....

so I will always associate him with learning what little boys are all about and those first few weeks of bonding and learning to trust.

He was also such a passionate and enthusiastic dad!

Yeesh, getting teared up now. :goodvibes

Should add that I get tears and sad when I hear or read of the family's loss, but I actually felt like I lost someone I cared about when Steve Irwin died.

Listening to the Reds game on the radio isn't the same without Joe Nuxhall.

...the old left hander rounding third and heading home...

I can think of only three: Princess Diana, Ronald Reagan, and Skip Caray (longtime Braves' announcer). I bawled off and on for a week when Skip passed away last August. I'd listened to him call games my entire life and loved him dearly.

I got choked up at Steve Irwin's death and Mister Rogers' passing, but didn't cry.

I'm very upset at Natasha's passing, but no tears. My heart aches for her family, especially her two boys. :sad2:

Just went thru and read the thread..... I mentioned Aaliyah first and foremost, then Jett Travolta.
I also thought of Skip Caray as I read, I got teary eyed that week listening to all the commentaries and his son Chip....

I think I cried at John Ritter as well...I grew up watching him.

Another that made me cry was the death of Sonny Bono. Not that I was a fan because they were more my moms era, but I love Cher, and when she gave a portion of the eulogy, I lost it....

Only one, Princess Diana. I feel saddened by Natasha's death, but I don't think I'll cry over it. Her family is in my prayers as they mourn their loss. :sad1:

I don't actually cry at celebrity passing (usually)...although I feel great saddness.

There are only a handful I actually cried over:

Steve Irwin (I still can not believe he is gone)
John Ritter
Christopher Reeves
Dale Earnhardt

And Last would be Kirby Puckett (Minnesota Twins player) He had retired from baseball and really let himself go, he had a stroke and died. I was so shocked and sad over it. I had met him a few times and he really seemed like a nice guy. Minnesota baseball was Kirby Puckett and it was a very sad day around the state when he died.

Well, I am certainly in the minority here, but I have never even been choked up or gotten a lump in my throat over a celebrity or famous person's death.

My mom cried when John Lennon was shot, but it happend a day after her father died, so I think that had something to do with it.

I feel very badly for the families dealing with the loss, but none of their deaths have moved me to tears.

For me, it was River Phoenix. I was in school when Channel One announced his death and I sat there sobbing like he had been my own brother. The teacher actually had to excuse me and pretty much the rest of the day I was a blubbering mess. I still get teary thinking about him.

I also was pretty distraught over Heath Ledger. I think moreso for the fact that my DS is not too much younger than Matilda and the thought of her growing up without him is just devestating.

I did get a bit misty over Mr Rogers,John Ritter and George Carlin as well.

Ok, I am just a big crying mess!

Steve Irwin's passing was hard. i Remember waking up to hear that he passed away. My heart sank to my stomach When I saw the Memorial service on Animal planet I cried then seeing Barbara Walters interviewing Terri Irwin on 20/20 just made me cried. Natasha's death was terrible. :sad1:

I only cried for John Ritter. He was so beloved and his death was so unexpected. I had a massive lump in my throat and I did cry for him. I believe Johnny Cash died the same day as John Ritter.

I was messed up when Michael Landon died but I knew he was dying as he had cancer.

ETA: I just remembered Chris Farley's death left me empty and cold. He absoultely made me happy b/c he was so talented and funny. I loved Chris Farley and the fact that he died so young is a crime.

Several actually...

Kurt Cobain--I felt almost as if I knew him from his lyrics. He was a poet, and his words spoke to me. It broke my heart when he passed.

Princess Di--Hearing that she was still alive and talking then passed away from such a horrific crash depressed me when I thought about the pain she must've been in. She was too good to go that way.

River Phoenix--I grew up watching him grow up. Such a senseless way to throw away your life. He had such talent.

Jim Ellison (Material Issue)--His suicide made me cry because I had just seen them in concert shortly before his passing. It's strange when you just see someone full of life then it's gone.

There are others, but those are the ones that stand out the most.

I was almost inconsolable when JFK, RFK and Martin Luther King Jr died.

also when Coretta King died, because my son loved her so much. He called her "Grandma" and losing her so soon after losing his real Grandma was so hard on him.

I also cried like a baby at Strawberry Fields for John Lennon.

Like a fool for Princess Diana.

Most recently for Natasha Richardson. I just became a BIG fan when she was on Top Chef. I remember thinking, WOW, she carries herself like Royalty. In the acting world, she was...

Mostly I cried for their kids... the living suffer so much more. :sad1:

Elvis
Princess Diana
JFK Jr.
Pope John Paul II

Sonny Bono but only when I watched Cher at the funeral.
