summer of 1973, my uncle wanted to take his wife and one of 4 sons down the middle fork of the salmon river, but we were usind wood meckenize river drift boats instead of rubber. Uncle is legend in stanley idaho, so finally over rode the beaucracy and got the okay to float without a reservation, made it a 1/4 mile and thankfully put a hole in one of the two boats....saved our lives...would not have made it out alive or intact...drought had made river very shallow....sad to say, 4 decades later my Uncles son, a idaho bush pilot lost his life in the canyons of the river
HYE been on a path/tour/event to see several waterfalls by foot.
