And did anyone have a party line?

Apparently, there are people out there that still have them. My husband works for the phone company and every once in a while he'll run into one.

I remember calling G-R-A-N-D-M-A for the time when I was a kid and W-E-A-T-H-E-R for, you know, the weather. I grew up in the Metro Detroit area.

For a few years while I was growing up, not only could you call and get the time/temp, but in one of the phonebooks there was listed a number where you could call, punch in a code and listen to stories, play games or report/listen to reported Elvis sightings.

I remember my grandparents had a LOGAN number! The first time I heard the reference - I was !! I was little and had never heard that before. They passed away in the 80's and still used the LOGAN prefix all the time.
