Have you ever been somewhere "haunted" and experienced something?

These are all really interesting...keep 'em coming!!

I am so glad I did not read this last night. Its freaking me out at 12:20 in the afternoon !

From my Feb. trip. I got to the Illumantions Cruise pictures, and in the corner of the picture, where the smoke is, is a FACE! I totally freaked and showed it to my DH--he agreed its a face, weird looking, wish I could show it to you all.:earseek:

I've been wondering lately whether or not my office is haunted. I'm the only one there from 9-11 at night and I will be sitting in the back office and I can see the front office out of the corner of my eye while I am typing. I never see anything directly, but I'll be sitting there and typing or reading and I can see something move by in the front office out of the corner of my eye. I'll look and there will be nothing there. A couple of times I'll be sitting in my chair and reading and I am facing the front office and will see something staring at me, I'll look up and nothing will be there. I started leaving the light on in the front office when I am the only one there. I don't seem to see anything when it is on.
Also everyone in my office has heard this. We have an attic above our offices that is about 3 ft high, only tall enough to crawl through. Well, sometimes it sounds like someone is walking up there. Everyone is usually like, "oh, it the wind", but I have never heard wind like that! Then sometimes, it sound like the front office door opens (the one that leads to outside), but it hasn't.
We also have weird smells. Someone is there 24 hours a days. When I leave at 11pm, someone else comes in from 11-7. Well, one morning the 2 people that come in at 7am came in the door and were hit by an awful smell of gasoline. It was just inside the building. The night person was completely clueless, he didn't smell anything. The morning people were scared of a gas leak or something so they called the landlord of the building and he came down and said there is no way anyone could have smelled gas because the place is total electric!
Everyone at my work just seems to ignore all of these things except for me. Either that or noone wants to talk about it.
The building isn't that old (maybe 10 years tops), but we are only about 2 miles from the ocean, in a historic city, so I am sure something was probably built there before.
I know I am scared when I have to work by myself though.

When we went to Italy, we were with a tour group. From Florence to Rome, our tour bus stopped at St. Benedict's Monastary for Supper.

The monastary was like a castle. Each room was made of stone, and we were spread out in many different rooms. I got up to go to the bathroom and when I was returning, I also felt like I walked through strong energy. My hair stood up on my arms and my neck.

The Lady walking behind me felt it to and said, "Oh, it is only good spirits, don't worry about it." And she walked away like nothing happened.

Story II

Our house is 110 years old. Actually my great-great uncle built it. Anyway, when we are sitting in our living room, you can see the back patio door. I had many people tell me, they see someone walk on the deck to the door and when they go to the door no one is there. I usually see it, when I am extremely tired.
I don't even check the door anymore, cause I know no one will be there.

These stories are freaky! Here's another good website for ghost stories www.theshadowlands.net or something like that. There are thousands of ghost stories on there.
The only story I have to relate is that our house is built in front of what used to be a slave graveyard over 100 years ago. There are no markers for the graves but an older woman with the local historical society came out one day and showed us where the graves used to be and told us they used to be marked by piles of stones. (Funny but we have old homemade stone walls around our house.) Anyway, two of our children (two different events) when they were little saw "white balls rolling out of the woods" and were freaked out enough to run inside and tell us about it. I've never seen these balls myself but I'm sure they were orbs.

Speaking of orbs, you can see many at a site www.sjgr.org it is a local ghost busting company. Yes they really do exist.

Take a look, but.... not alone and not at night! Just kidding.

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

These are creepy!!! I also have a picture of my DS from a football game. He is standing in the backfield waiting for the ball to snap. It is a clear day. However, in the picture he has 2 very distinct white presence's on either side of him. I took 2 pictures in a row and both have it-- not 1 other picture on that roll of film had anything. I don't know how to post pics-- but I do have a scanner-- if someone else can post I'd email it to show you guys-- it's really creepy.

i just went to the shadowlands website and there are some interesting stories about Disney World Hauntings...just go under places of hauntings and look under Florida (Orlando area is more active than I thought!

The house I used to live in was haunted. I am pretty sure it was by a previous owner, Mrs. Maudulin, that died when she walking back to the house from Dairy Queen - she was hit by a car and killed. I only know this since my grandparents lived in a house a couple doors down from this house when the accident happened.

Anyway, my ex and I used to hear nosies in the middle of the night - like someone walking in the attic. Never thought too much about it. One night these noises were esp. loud. We both woke up. Then it sounded like someone was outside, running a stick or something along the 2 outside walls of our bedroom. Ex even got out of bed to look out the windows and see what it was. He of course saw nothing. It wasn't windy either. We finally fell asleep somehow.

When ex and I separated, one night I heard noises down the hallway in the kitchen - chairs moving, I thought. At first, I thought ex-DH just stopped in to get his mail after work (he worked 2nd shift). Then I somehow just knew it wasn't him, but the ghost. I was in bed on my side facing the open doorway. There was a mirror opposite my bed and if I looked over at it, I would have seen down the hallway in the reflection. I was never more scared in my life. It sounded like footsteps coming down the hall toward the bedroom. Next thing I knew, I woke up in the morning. I think I might have just passed-out, I was so scared! I swore that if I got up and went to the kitchen and found the chairs moved in any way, I was leaving the house then & there in my pjs! The chairs were all pushed in, exactly as I had left them the night before - thank God.

Flash forward - new DH (then boyfriend) would hear the walking in the attic noises too. But he didn't tell me until we moved that he also felt her sit on the bed next to him on several occassions! He said, he'd be sleeping and it would feel just like if someone sat on the bed next to you - the covers would pull tight around him and he'd feel that part of the bed slope downward. He said one time in particular, it scared him pretty bad. He could not pull the covers back from being so tight! Other times this presence was much more mild, I guess.

One time during all this, I was telling my uncle about it. He said "I wondered when you'd see her." He said she was going a bit senile before her death. He used to see her, before she died, wandering around the neighborhood in her nightgown. Even saw her in my grandparents' backyard once in her nightgown during the daytime. From what little I know about ghosts, they usually are people that died unexpectedly or with unfinished business. She was getting pretty senile before she died, and she died very unexpectedly and tragically. Hmm....

Keep the stories coming - I love reading them!

Bump again for more stories!!!

Well, my house was totally haunted growing up. The doors used to open and close, and books and things would move. When we were young, my dad called it, "Harvey the six foot tall invisible rabbit" from an old movie. Anyways, we thought my little brother was possessed, because he would walk around in his sleep, talk, and throw himself around in the bed like the exorcist or something.

We came home once, and the curtains had been burned. My parents told me, well, maybe an uncle came over and was smoking and lit the curtains on fire.

Then, growing up, I lived in the basement, and would always hear my dad come downstairs in the middle of the night, stop outside my door to check on me. (He had a business in the basement), and then go walk outside for coffie. Well, years later, after I joined the army, at home on leave I asked why he did that. He says he NEVER CAME DOWNSTAIRS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

Also, my Dad, a stern conservative man, supposedly woke up near tears one night. As my mom explained it, he claimed to see a light in the corner of the room, that disappeared. He thought it was the closet light, and made her get out of bed to make sure. The, he slept in the living room for a week and refused to go back to the bedroom.

Wierd? There's other things...just can't remember them alll.

I mentioend this thread to DH yesterday when he got home from work. And he mentioned that he's had a couple of experiences. He's never been in a haunted house as far as he knows. But he has been visited twice by ppl who were dying.

The first visit was when his Grandfather passed away. Grandad was in WI. DH was home in VA. While at a meeting he happened to look out a window and he saw a man waving to him. He didn't see the man clearly but since ppl don't usually look through the windows of the place he was in, he thought it was odd. When he got hom he got the call that his GrD had died. He asked what time and the time given was the same exact time he saw the person in the window.

The 2nd visit was from his Supervisor at work. He went to bed 1 night and dreamed that the man had died and someone at work had told him of the death. He woke up when the dream was done and saw the time was 4am. later he went into work as usual and when he arrived, the same person he saw in the dream came up to tell him of the Supervisor's death. He asked what time and she told him that it had been 4am when the man passed. He told me it was an exact replica of how he was told in the dream.

So there's my contribution to the thread LOL.

Ok, here are mine:

Story 1: When ex-husbands Mom was diagnosed with cancer and needed some assistance she lived with us for a short time. She and I developed quite a close relationship at that time and shared many great moments. About 2 year after her death I had a dream about her telling me to keep my head up and to do what was right for me and DS. Now let me tell you a little about the layout of that house. In order to get to master bedroom you had to walk down the hall and then through living room. The next morning my ex told me that the previous night while he was up reading a book he thought he saw a shadow with a corner of his eye, when he looked up and swore he saw his Mother going into the direction of our room, he said he got up and went to investigate what he thought was me checking up on him. He said I was in deep sleep when he checked and the door was closed. We divorced 6 months later when I found out he was actively looking for a mistress for the past ½ a year.

Story 2: A few years back I was up late working on my laptop; I was sitting on the couch and trying to finish up the project for the next morning meeting. My DS and DH wore all asleep; my dog being the spoiled rotten brat that he is went to sleep on my bed with my DH; my cat always liked to sleep on the back of the head rest of the couch so he remained behind with me sleeping soundly. Well it was obviously very quite as everyone was sound asleep when all the sudden my cat jumped off the couch and started hissing and spitting at a corner on the opposite side of the room. At first I thought he may have seen a shadow or something but he was acting like nothing I ever saw before. He’s back was all hunched over and he was REALLY focused on the corner of the room. I looked there but saw nothing at all. I tried ignoring him and returning to work but the cat was continually getting more and more agitated (I was obviously getting a little freaked out at this time). I turned off the computer and walked over to the corner where my cat was looking at, I noticed immediately there was a huge dip in temperature in that corner. Now being the brave soul I am I wasted no time but hauled *&# to bed. The cat soon joined me there also which he never liked to do before. He placed himself at the foot of the bed where he had a clear view of the doorway and hall and remained there for the rest of the night. In the morning I told my DH what happened previous night and he laughed it of. Later that morning I got a call from my family that a distant cousin has passed away late the previous night! Needless to say DH did not laugh at me after that.

You guys are all creeping me out...I'm going to have bad dreams tonight!

BUT keep the stories coming I love being creeped out!!!

I was reading all of these and it made me think of my grandparents house.

There house is about 8 years ago on one of the four lots in a neighborhood. The neighborhood was once a large sea-side estate. The original owners had a couple kids, the son in particular was apparently wild and was always vandalizing things with his group of friends. Now the parents and the daughter both died in the house but the son moved away and died some years later in his new house. The large mansion was abandonded because people were scared of the house. Because it was on such a large piece of land, they demolished the house and broke it up into several lots.

Now my grandparents are not the type of people you would think to be the type to believe in ghosts or spirits or whatnot. My grandfather is retired but spends a large part of the day in the cellar working on wood projects or outside landscaping. My grandmother is usually upstairs cleaning, cooking, or reading during the day when she is home. The first time she started thinking their lot was haunted was about a year after they moved in. It was about 3 p.m. My grandfather was downstairs and she was laying on her bed reading. She heard footsteps in the hallway and then heard the side door open and close. Now, they never use the side door to go anywhere because it goes onto a deck that is only attached to the house with no way down to the yard. It is used only when they entertain outside. My grandma really did not think anything of it because she figured my grandpa just went out to do something on the deck. That night at dinner she asked why he was on the deck. He replied that he hadn't gone upstairs, he was in the basement working. My grandma thought he just forgot and said how she was sure she heard him around 3. Then he replied that at 3 he would have been at afternoon mass, which he goes to everyday, and my grandma had not thought of that. My grandpa thought she had imagined it, but over the years both of them have many times heard footsteps and doors open, all of them when one could not have done it.

Now, everyone in our family never believed them, and just said it was simply their imaginations. I had never believed them until last summer. Every summer on the weekend after the 4th of July, all of my Mom's family that can come gathers at my grandparents house for a big cook out after a road race many members of my family run in. It was around 5 in the afternoon and most of our relatives had gone home. Me, my sister, and two of my three cousins had just walked into my grandparents bedroom to watch a movie(we always watch movies there because we can lay on their huge bed) and my sister knocked on the door of the bathroom. All four of us girls heard a clear "I'm in here" and could then heard footsteps within. We all thought it was my other cousin who we hadn't seen and figured must have come in and then gone to the bathroom. After about 10 minutes and nothing happening my sister knocked on the door again calling out "Em? Hurry up!" All four of us girls got up and were facing the door of the bathroom when my cousin Em walked into the bedroom and exclaimed "What are you all looking at?!" We just about DIED! My sister then knocked on the door again and again there was no answer. She finally decided to open the door and when she entered, there was no one in there, or the ajoining closet. Now, there are two windows in the bathroom, one dropping two stories and one onto a deck which, if someone had jumped out of the window, we would have seen them on the deck because of the large sliding glass doors. When we told Em what had happened, we all began to be soo scared. My sister then went into the bathroom and she said the room became really cold and the hair on her arms stood straight up! After that, we all believed our grandparents stories of someone being in their house!
