Have you ever been on a cruise other than Disney?

I'll underscore the recommendation of others.

A Balcony/Verandah can DEFINITELY inject a Romantic-Erotic flavor to your trip:jester: :jester: :jester: :jester: ........, but NOT for the bashful   .......

We have sailed on RCCl to the Hawaiian Islands from Vancouver, Regal Princess for an Alaskian cruise, and Disney 4 night cruise. I am probably in the minority but the Disney was the worst. The Rhapsody and the Regal were wonderful cruises. The meals were really great and there was a lot to do. We had balcony cabins for all 3 cruises and love the balcony. I did like Disneys split bath but the marble bath on the Regal was really great. The service on the other 2 were heads and above Disneys service in both the room and at the table except at Palo's. We are hoping to cruise again as soon as we get the money.

In 1992 we went on a Carnival cruise, out of Miami, to the Bahamas.
We booked last minute (a few weeks prior) and got a excellent price on
a second from the best outside cabin. It was a fairly decent sized room. It also had a loarger than expected bathroom. We had always heard that bathrooms on cruise ships were small. This was not small.
Our cruise did not have many kids at all that I can remember. Lots of food, fun, gambling, booze everywhere.
Of course there was more to the cruise than that. Lots of activities to participate in and excursions to the islands.

I've been on several cruise ships because I
was a travel agent until May '02. the Disney
ships offer a very nice experience for just adults.
Many of my clients told me they didn't even
notice kids being there. That's because Disney
does such a good job of keeping children busy.
Choose a newer ship and try to get a cabin
with a balcony. Shop the cruise lines, use the
internet . Check with a cruise travel agency
as well as an agency that is large and has buying
power. Some agencies even have incredible
deals going right now for winter cruises. Check
your closest big city paper.

Thanks for all these responses!! I have really enjoyed reading them adn love all your suggestions.

Very intresting thread......especially since we are going on our 1st cruise ever.Any more experts out there?

We sailed on Holland America for our honeymoon last May. It was an incredible experience. Very elegant and beautiful..The staff on the ship are so professional and treat the passengers like you are the only one on the ship. We are sailing on the Zuiderdam for our one year anniversary this coming May. It is in the new Vista class of the Holland America Line.

I would think it would be a great line for a 25th anniversary. And I would also recommend a veranda (balcony). It gives you "alone" time with a wonderful view.

We are sailing for my 12 year olds birthday on the Disney Wonder in two weeks, so I will be interested to see the differences.
