I have, several times. First time was when I broke my neck at 25 years old. The last time was when I was pregnant with my 3rd DS. I was only 20 wks along and having some major problems Blood pressure was 40 over 20......doctor didn't like those numbers! Luckily all went well and that DS is now 17 years old! :)

Just once - and that was riding in the front seat when my DD had a gymnastics accident and landed on her head. They put her on a board and took her to the hospital just to be safe. (All ended up being fine.)

Wow - both of your times were very scary!

Yes--twice

1st: sliced my foot in the ocean in Atlanta city when I was a kid. Foot wouldn't stop bleeding so lifeguards called an ambulance. They played all the cool sirens for me.

2nd: Passed out in my sorority house--they called 911 and I got transported for eval And unnecesary alcohol and drug tests--IDIOTS! I had my wisdom teeth out that very day in the dental school attached to the hospital...i had the cause and blood in my mouth AND the puffy cheeks. I had taken my meds on a virtual empty stomach--and passed out when walking with someone to replenish my ice. But yet--b/c it was a Friday night and an ambulance gets called to a sorority house--I got the benefit of unnecessary lab work when the idiots could have easily cross checked records. Didn't enjoy that ride--strapped to a backboard. OVERKILL!!!

the first ambulance ride was much more fun.

I hope I never have to ride in one under more serious circumstances.

Yes. It is not something I want to do again!

Of course, many times actually as a child. Not as an adult though.

Yep, when I was 19. I was riding a friends horse, it bolted, I went off caught my foot in the stirrup and broke my leg over the horses back and when all was said and done it was a compound fracture, 2 surgeries and 9 months later they said it was healed HA! little did they know what was yet to come!

Just once - was transported from our local hospital to the larger women's hospital (about 20 mins away)for gall bladder surgery - that's where my surgeon was...

Yep - broke my ankle sky diving and rode the whole way in the ambulance to the hospital thinking "My mom is going to say I told you so". She didn't want me to do it. :)

The second time was when I slipped at LJS and fell with DD. Both of us went to the hospital together. :)

Only once. I was driving and a car ran the stop sign, I hit him and ended up having bruised knees ( I am only 5'2" so I sit close to be able to push the clutch in ) and a sprained wrist. DS 17 was with me, he was in a car seat at the time so he was fine.

As I hit the other car, he was pushed into the guard rail at an angle that forced his head into the windshield so he was passed out and bleeding from the head - I thought I had killed him!!

I later found out that he was running late for work and didn't even slow down for the stop sign. I didn't have a stop sign and the intersection had a corn field blocking my view of him until he was right there in front of me.

Yes, I was in a car accident about 6 years ago. DH and I were at a complete stop when we were hit from behind with the driver going 60 mph. I had severe whiplash and they had me strapped to a backboard. When I complained that I couldn't breathe (had bruised my ribs and couldn't catch my breath) they hooked me up to oxygen

That 2 mile ride to the hospital came with a $1,000 charge.

Yep been in an ambulance but never as a pt. I am one of the mean mean people that straps people to backboards. I am an EMT and DH is a paramedic. And as I always tell my pts I am doing this for your own good just in case something that I can't see is messed up. That usually helps. I hope I don't see any of you in the back of my ambulance.

Yup, I was having a major gall bladder attack and DH was ummmm....."busy" getting ready for his colonoscopy the next day. It royally sucked. They came back and got me the following week when I couldn't get up off the floor or breathe, I had my gall bladder removed 6 hours later.

Many, many times as a child. But I was never a patient. Both my parents were EMTs. DM was actually captain of the volunteer squad for 18 years. Since she was a SAHM, if you were home from school, you got stuck going on a call and sitting in the front seat. There are many times when I fell asleep there.
Also, if she was supposed to pick us up from school and she had a call she would swing by on the way back in the ambulance. Let me tell you, an ambulance pulls into the high school parking lot at dismissal.......EVERYONE looks. People start commenting. Nope, sorry I'm the dork!! There's my DM. Please dear lord let a hole open up and swallow me now. There is no way that looks cool when you are 16!! :rolleyes1

3timer here...but not for myself my DD'S: 1st and 2nd times DDat 15 months had croup so bad she couldn't breath and 3rd other DD had the actual flu and passed out and hit her head very hard on the floor !Thank God for EMTs THEY DO SO MUCH FOR "FREE" AND SELDOM GET ANY THANKS!THANK YOU EMT'S you are a GodSend!!

Yes I have and not something I'd like a repeat performance of. It was 16 years ago now and it was an ectopic pregnancy.. very nearly cost me my own life as well.

Once - DD was just about three and decided to sneak into uncle's swimming pool in 50 degree temps. Worst ride of my life! Fortunately, everything ended up okay and she is now almost 7.......

A few times, but my most memorable was back in 2001 when I fell near the Fleet Center in Boston. A nice cop tried to help me up, but my ankle was broken and as soon as I stepped on it, I went down in a heap. I woke up laying in an ambulance. It just happened to be the day the Circus was in town. As I'm laying in the ambulance, all of the clowns are coming by driving their little cars....they were all waving at me. The EMT said, "Hey! You just missed the elephants!"

Twice and I don't remember either trip. The first one was because of a car wreck and I was barely 2 years old. The second was the wreck I was in that caused my paralysis. I was asleep anyway when it happened and knocked all the way out when it happened. I didn't regain consciousness until after I arrived at the hospital (don't remember that either, but my grandmother says I talked to her).
