Have you ever been ghosted?

I think I may need to start the trip around the block with the note that says you have been ghosted, put this on your door and ghost two people, and the bag of candy for the kids of course. I think the person who usually started it moved or I am over anxious to get some candy!

We were ghosted this past week and loved it! We got a large bag with halloween trinkets and candy, a pumkin candle and some munchies. We were so excited to ghost the next person. I think that is so much more fun! Now I am seeing many ghosts on the front doors of my neighbors and my dd loves it!

I never heard of being "ghosted". Please explain.:D

I'll give it a shot!

One person in the neighborhood starts it.

In a large trick or treat bag or plastic pumpkin you put candy and treats for a neighbor. We did our next door neighbor who has three small children. We went to Target and bought up some halloween stuff for $1 each. It included stickers, pencils, small note pads, these great dollar masks and bunny ears. Small treat bags with candy, some peanuts and salty snacks for the parents and some necklace glow sticks. We also included a small ceramic pumpkin with tea lights. Well, you get the idea.

Then you cut out a ghost about 8-10 inches big and put that in the bag.

Then you make a copy of the poem below (ghost too) and put that in.

At night, you pick a neighbor, and place the bag on the front step and ring the doorbell and RUN!!! lol

Here is the poem:

The Phantom haunts you happily from now
through Halloween

And was delivered by a friend who
(hopefully) was not seen

The spirit of the nieghborhood has come to
wish you well

Someone, somewhere, selected you to
receive this happy spell

You must display the Phantom on your door so
all can spy

That you're already haunted by this happy
little guy

Then fix a sack with goodies like the one
given to you

Ring someone's bell and leave a bag and
make them happy too!
(don't forget a copy of the poem and a ghost)

How fun! I think I'm going to do this for the family across the street. They have 4 kids who would probably be thrilled. Thanks kimmie!:D

I started it in my neighborhood last year after reading about it on the DIS! We had a great time with it.

It is fun! I sometimes ghost the people without kids too just because I don't want anyone feeling left out! I am going to copy your poem- it is better than the one we usually get! We do two neighbors to increase the chances it won't fizzle out early!

Gosh, that is really, really cute! What a great activity for neighbors to do for one another!! Thanks for sharing that. I had never heard of it, either! Great idea!! ;)

I ran out of time before a birthday party we had to get my dd to so I will be doing it with them under cover of darkness!

It took about a year to get the stupid clipart ghost!

I've heard of this but never tried it. Maybe we'll start a new tradition in our neighborhood this year?

Our ghost is just on a white piece of paper.

He is about 8-10 inches tall. We just cut him our and used black marker for two eyes and a circle for his mouth.

Ask the kids to make him! lol

Just make sure he is big enough to be seen from the door.

Not very attractive, but you can tell who has been ghosted when you come in the neighborhood.

I encourage everyone to do it! Doesn't take a lot of time or $$. We also ghost those who don't have any kids. I think that is great!

Have fun with it!

We've been doing that in our neighborhood for about 4 years now. It is always a lot of fun!! We call it getting "boo'd"

The kids get a kick out off "boo'ing" their friends. :teeth:

I was running around in the cold and rain last night with my DD(5) "Secret Spooking". We "spooked" 12 kids in the neighborhood this year, but we're usually the ones that get the ball rolling! She had a blast doing it. Joannes and Walgreens both have neat halloween stuff for kids at great prices.

My Mom was last week. She brought copies of the papers with her so we can ghost our neighbors. :)

Never heard of this either, but, I live in Miami, and to "Ghost" someone would be to rob or harm them in some way here.
