Have you ever been asked out by a complete stranger?

When I was single, I taught at an elementary school full of women teachers. That was pretty much the only way I ever got to go out, so luckily, I had been asked quite a few times that way! I kept thinking if I didn't find someone, I was going to change jobs!

I got asked out last year, while doing laundry at the Residence Inn, where we were staying before our new house was ready. The guy was staying in town doing construction and didn't know anyone, I presume. I told him I didn't think my husband would appreciate it if I went out with him to dinner. It made me feel kind of creepy, and reminded me of similar encounters during my single days...I was very happy when my DH showed up in the laundry room about twenty minutes later! I'm always very friendly, and have had many experiences with strangers for that reason.

I have random guys ask me out about once a month.....and no I am NOT joking. It has gotten to the point where i try to look as crummy as possible at the grocery store, the gym, the mall........you name it. It would probably be nice if I wasn't married with 4 children ages 6 and under...but alas, I am. The most memorable recent one was while I was in the checkout line at Wal-mart with ALL 4, yes ALL 4 of my children and some really HOT guy behind me started talking to me about long lines, how cute my kids are, are they all mine, etc..... Well after I was rang up he asked if I would like to go out to dinner some time. All that I could think (to myself) was that I was being polite talking to him because he just kept talking to me--I wasn't putting myself out there, Y'know? I told him that I was married (HELLLO could he not see the big rock on my finger?) and he was like too bad.... That is not the only time that I have been hit on with all of my children in tow, either.... Oh and for some reason when I was pregnant I got hit on ALOT more- like once a week....... Maybe my pheremones are like guymagnets LOL :rotfl: Boy, If I could only bottle I could probably make some BIG Bucks. :rolleyes1
Men love fertile women!!!!!!! ;)

Yep....a guy came to this small law firm I was working at in college. He was a sales rep for a copy machine company. I told him we were all set with our copy machine needs. A few hours later, he comes back and asks me out. :)

He was nice, but it only lasted a few dates. I met my DH a few months later, so it all worked out.

Yes, it's happened to me times in the past when I was single, however it also just happened a few weeks ago when I was 8+ months pregnant and this guy came up to me in a parking lot to help me carry my bags. Next thing I know, he's asking me if i'm married and telling me i've got beautiful eyes.....very strange.

EDITED - Nicolemomof4cuties - I didn't even read your post before posting mine - must be something about us "fertile" married women being hot dates - LOL.

I thought that was pretty common? Or maybe just in some parts of the country? I know it happens to my dd all the time at work (she's a waitress).

Yes, I've heard waitresses and bartenders and the like get asked out a lot. However, I'm a legal secretary, so it doesn't happen to me all that often. :teeth: I get hit on often (too often, in fact. I hate it), but never asked out completely out of the blue by someone who didn't appear to be under the influence of alcohol. ;)

Not to mention, I have my dd with me 90% of the time and I don't even get looked at when she's with me.

I had a very sweet guy come up to me once in college. At the time I was trying to corral 6 very drunk girls into a car to get them home. They kept escaping from me. He came over, helped me get everyone in the car, and asked if he could call me. I did give him my number, but we only went out once.

Only every day

A teller at my bank asked me out when I was a youngin. Since then...not so much.

Yeah, happened in the grocery store....and he followed me out to the car even when I told him I was married. Then he asked me "happily"?

What a freak. :rotfl: :rotfl:

About twenty two years ago, I flew down to the Bahamas to meet my DH's carrier during it's port of call. I was checking into the hotel the night before it was due, and another guest came over and asked if I would like to have dinner with him. I told him DH would be arriving the next morning, I had a 7 month old baby at home, and NO, I'd be dining alone, thank you very much. :rotfl:

Another time (over 30 years ago) I was having drinks with married friends who I was visiting in Manhattan. We had tickets for a show, so were in a bar that also served food during Happy Hour. As we got up to leave, one of two men at the next table said, "You can't leave! I wanted to talk to you!" He gave me his business phone number, and I called him the next day. We ALL went out to dinner the next evening, and had a lovely time. He was from out of state also, so nothing more came of it.

Yes. Some very nice man tried to "pick me up" in the meat section of the supermarket. He asked a question - I answered, and then he wanted to know if I would share it with him for dinner!

I politely said, no thank you and as I left his view - ran as fast as I can to my car.

I never thought of the supermarket as a pick up joint!

Once on the subway a very attractive guy kept staring at me. I was very flattered and was really starting to blush. When I got off the train, he was right behind me and started talking to me about the weather (It was very cold outside). He commented on what a nice warm coat I had, my lovely scarf that made my eyes sparkle, he was quite the charmer. He asked where I worked and I vagely told him and then asked what he did, oh, I am a professional football player. Oh really? I asked and what is it you are doing on Wall St. on a Monday morning? (In season) I'm here to see my broker. Oh. Will you please meet me tonight for dinner and drinks? I said no, something just seemed really off. Well, my instincts were right. After that day I saw this guy on the train pretty much every day for about 2 years. Why do they think we are so stupid?? Had he told me he was a broker or a trader, or even the mail room guy he might have had a shot!

In my yute I was dumb/awnry enough (and drunk a few times) to think I could ask for some kanoodling from chicks like this.....Oy, DOWN IN FLAMES HE WENT! CRASH AND BURN!

Although I did get a "Nice Try" once. :rotfl:

I have gone out on dates (years ago) with people I did not know well....arranged dates. I didn't enjoy them very much.

However, that being said, I met my DH on an arranged blind date... :confused3

Several times, including once by a CM at Disney.

The creepiest incident was a guy that asked me out while I was at lunch. There were a bunch of restaurants and delis by my office, and I was sitting alone. We met a few times after that, but something just seemed off to me, so I tried to break it off. The final straw was when he just showed up at my office one afternoon, even though I'd never told him where I worked. He'd apparently followed me one day. Freaked me out enough that I refused to let him in and told him to stay the heck away from me. Fortunately, he did.

I had a CM aske me out too. A number of years ago my sister and I had dionner at San Angel Inn. The waiter asked me if I wanted to meet him outside of the Mexican pavillion when he got off work at 10:00. I don't know if I was supposed to hide in the bushes afterr the park closed or what. :confused3
