Have you discovered you like something you thought you wouldn't like?

For me it's Green Day's music. When I was younger the word "punk" was as bad as "heavy metal". Then I heard about "American Idiot" the Broadway play based on the Green Day CD. We've seen the play 3 times already! I have memorized every word.

So then I started listening to Green Day music. I was shocked to discover that I love it, including the "old" stuff. :cool1: I'm in my '50's so I surprised myself!

Is there something you never tried because you thought you wouldn't like it, only to discover that your were wrong?

Yep, running. I used to hate it but when I wanted to get into shape I knew it was the best way. I begrudgingly signed up for a 5K and ended up loving it. At the end of this year I will have run 15 half marathons and will be about to start my second full.

EPCOT. DH wanted to be there opening day and I swore I wouldn't go...*never* wanted to go. He dragged me, grumbling and fussing all the way. Now, just take a look at my username. ;)

Sushi. The idea of raw "anything" made me want to gag, and I didn't like fish, so I thought for sure I'd want to up-chuck after a single bite. After trying some rare seared ahi tuna (and loving it) and then trying California rolls, I figured I might just like sushi after all. Now I have it on average of once a month!

Is Green Day considered punk? I learn something new every day--I wouldn't think to call anything but their really early stuff punk, I don't know what I would call it though:dance3:

What I didn't expect to like is a Wii. I never liked gaming systems (hated my cousin's annoying Nintendo as a kid) and, oddly the kids never wanted one (they did not even think they wanted the Wii when we got it).
I love Wii Fit and Lego Rock Band now. Great fun.

Running! I thought I would hate every second of it, but I really enjoyed it. Sadle, I can't do it anymore due to back surgery.

Same here! I swore I would never eat raw fish and then I had it one night at Kimonos with my husband and loved it!! I never knew Eel and seaweed could be so good!! I love the Coconut Shrimp too! I try to have it whenever possible now! :)

That's my point, I *thought* it was still punk and that I wouldn't like it. :):)

Texting. I have been holding out for years because I saw no need to do it. Now its definitely the preferred way to communicate with my cell.

Nutella! I have passed that stuff for years thinking, ewwww. But for some reason, I put a container of it in my cart, thinking if it's been around this long, it must be good. So I tried it!

I LOVE the stuff!! It's so good! So much wasted time! I'm rethinking a few other grocery items now. :)

I wanted to try that, but I'm allergic to that kind of nut. I have to stick to peanut butter :guilty:

Me too! I thought I hated running, but after a year of fast walking on my treadmill, I needed something more. I decided to put up my treadmill and start running outside. I found that I loved it. I saw quick results, and I had more endurance than I expected. I will be running in my first half marathon in November, and I am super excited about it. Currently, I am able to run 10miles. I would have never thought I could run such a distance and still feel great. This week, I add a mile to my training. I know it sounds crazy, but I look forward to my running. :thumbsup2

Put me in the Sushi Camp as well...I crave it now. Who would have guessed.

Also

Watching the Antique Roadshow. I know it damages my mancard, but for pete's sake, I'm a diagnosed pack rat...there may be something valuble in all that Junk!
