I can't wait for our first cruise, April 17th on the Wonder. So how was the weather, was it too hot? Did you need a sweater for the night time? Did you encounter any problems with the "sea lice" that I've read about that may come out that time of year? I just can't wait for this trip! Please tell me everything! :D

we are cruising in April aswell, so I look forward to the responses

We have always cruised in April or late March. Conditions can vary. We have had smooth seas and also med waves that rock the ship.

As for temp outside, we have had warm evening weather, meaning that the temps on deck at sea is a warm evening tropical winds (in the 80s). We also have had cool winds in the evenings (low 70s high 60s).

Day temp is warm/hot high 70s to low 90s depending where you are at.

Water temps have also varied but mostly it has been warm. Only once was it was on the cool side.

The weather was really nice for us in 2004. Port canaveral was in the 70's the night before the trip. During the day at Nassau and Castaway cay the temps were in the mid 80s.... just perfect for me. The water was still pretty cold, but I manged to snorkel for over an hour anyway. The beach was packed on CC but there weren't many people in the water because of this. The pool area at night was in the low 70's (plus VERY WINDY) and lots of people wore long pants or a jacket. Back on land, we spent a day at Typhoon Lagoon and it was about 80 and then a day at the MK which was also about 80. We usually go there in the summer when the temps are in the high 90s so it was kind of nice not to be so hot while walking between attractions. This was the week AFTER spring break for most of the country so the crowds were much shorter, but still about the same as early summer.

I spent over an hour way out in the middle of the lagoon at CC and did not have any problems with sea lice, so there's a good chance you won't have them either.

Din and Scotto...thanks for the great details, just what I was looking for.

Anyone else want to chime in?

Hey, I would never go another time! We went last year on the Eastern April 3, and next year on the Western April 23. The weather was amazing, not crazy hot like in the summer, but mid 80's, just beautiful. At night time inside, you could use a sweater especially in the restaurants and the shows, but not outside, good to go with shorts. I think that sea lice stuff is a load, never heard ANYONE talkin about it. I wouldn't worry about it AT ALL. Got a nice tan, but got a little cooked on the boat from the submarine, (forgot the sunscreen). Personally, I would never go on a cruise any other time. My first cruise (many moons ago) we went in August, BIG MISTAKE, it was so hot, I couldn't even go outside, and I like it hot. It was crazy hot, you couldn't even walk on the deck barefoot. You'll have a great time!

We have cruise twice at the beginning of April and had fantastic weather as well. It can be a little breezy at night so a light sweater might have been handy but no one in our family used one. The last time we cruised (April 2003) we were told we were the first group to make it to CC for nice weather in awhile. I think it can be a little iffy for the weather but not our experience. I also would not cruise at any other time.

I have cruised the end of April and once the beginning of May and next year I am giong April 30th so I guess you could say I think that is the perfect time. The weather was warm and at time hot...it was great..no need for a jacket any of the time, even at the evening deck parties. The seas were good except for one night where it was rocking enough to have the closet doors slam open and closed but it was still great! Grand Cayman was in the 80's at was CC...the water was warm enough in both places to just walk in, no shock factor form cold!

Thanks again! I'm loving these weather reports, just perfect. :D

Thank you Jillpie for posting this. We are cruising in April 05 as well and I am curious about the weather too. I know when we cruised on the Wonder a couple of May's back it was beautiful and the seas were like glass...especially on that at sea day when they craaawwwllll back to Port Canaveral...we thought the ship wasn't even moving! :)

Aprilgail2: are you on the April 30th Eastern? I am trying to start a cruise meet thread on the cruisemeet board here, but noone has responded yet...guess I am the only one cruising then? :)

We also like that time of year. It can get hot on St. Maarten then - I got some serious sun blisters. But overall, its the perfect temps all day long at the islands and on the boat.

You will not be cold. You will not be uncomfortably hot.

We are cruising April 29th 2006.

HI Jillpie, I will also be on the april 17th cruise! This is my second april criuse and Ditto to what everyone has said. I always pack a light jacket or sweater becuase after the warmth of the day it feels cool out with the breeze across the top deck. And I love to watch th sun go down. I also tend to get a little chilly in the dining rooms too.

This will be our second wonder cruise but our first time going in April. Thanks for the great weather reports.
We will be celebrating DD sweet 16 and then onto AKL:Pinkbounc
