Ok so I'm going to be in NYC during the Tony awards and I just can't miss it. I'm a huge theatre person. So I'm wondering how much the tickets are for what area and how good was the view? How quickly do they sell out? They do not go on sale until May but I have to budget of course. Please help!

I attend the Tony Awards. However I'm not sure what you know about getting 'tickets'. You cannot just purchase tickets. You either have to be in a show that is nominated, actually be someone in the industry, work with the American Theater Wing, the sponsor's of the Tony Awards, etc. I believe that there is also someway that some folks become seat fillers, so you may want to look that up online. Hope this helps.

Are you a member of playbill.com? It is free to register. In past years, I have been sent offers from them to buy tickets to the Tony's at the last minute. I am sure it is only the nose bleed sections that would be offered through this....but so what? I have often been tempted to do it, but haven't,,....Yet!!!! I think it would be such a great experience.

Yes, you can. From the American Theatre Wing's website:

The Tony Awards will be presented at Radio City Music Hall in Midtown Manhattan. Tickets will be available for sale here at TonyAwards.com, on the day of the Nominations Announcement, Tuesday, May 10. Visa is the exclusive card of the Tony Awards.

Sorry, I don't have any answer for the OP though.

I was going to try and buy them last year, but forgot and overslept. I think the cheaper ones are <$100 and the more expensive ones were $100-150 or so. I think they sold out in 2-3 hours. Not too quickly, considering how few tickets are available.

You can buy tickets to the Tony's?!!??

I never knew that! I'll have to ask DH if he'd be interested in going! THAT would be great!

No, I am not with Playbill.com----I am involved in the industry. Didn't realize the theater wing sold tickets. Perhaps the tickets that are left, are sold. The venue is so large and it always is packed. My seats the past few years have been great--rows 14 to 23 in the orchestra. It is a fun event if you love the theater. The gala afterwards is always nice--low key but nice. Hope you get tickets
