Has anyone on the boards booked a Disney Cruise through Virgin Holidays? And if so how was the experince? Only wondering becuase I have and I seem to be having a different experince to other cruisers? : :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

We booked our first DCL cruise with Virgin Holidays back in 2001, our experience with them was great, they sorted everything out for us and we had no problems. Then for our 2nd and soon to be 3rd cruise we booked direct through DCL as it worked out a lot cheaper due to the exchange rate.

If you want any info on my cruises, you can find it on

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask

Hi, I don't know if you have already booked your cruise, but when we were looking at booking we found that all the usa travel agents, were a lot cheeper, not just because of the dollar rate either.
We finally booked with allseas travel that I can highly recommend saved us a fourtune.
Best of luck whatever you decide.

Try pricing up the cruise through the Disney web site, it may work out cheaper and if you have to change the cruise or cancel you can do within the time frame stated.

Unfortunately we have already booked the cruise through Virgin - as FV and other early booking discounts we felt at the time we got a pretty good deal, next time (I hope there will be one) will be a different story! :flower:

Hi we went on the 7 night wonder last year with virgin & had a fantastic holiday,
The added bonus is virgin will send you your cruise tickets to your home (I've been with airtours & had to pick them up at the airport-in Florida & they totally messed up!!)
Virgin also pay your tips, which can add up to an awful lot, as you pay 2 servers, a head server and your cabin host & each person travelling has to pay - including children, e.g. one server get $15 x 4, if 2 adults & 2 children are travelling = $60 just for him!!! I have looked into 7 night cruises with allseas travel & dreamsunlimited & found them not to be much cheaper & then you have to add tips on top, so dont worry, you'll have a great time!!! :goodvibes

I have booked with Virgin for a 4 night cruise on the wonder. Whats this about them paying for tips i havn't come across this as yet. Could you let know some more please
Thanks Marv

When you book a Disney cruise through Virgin, The price you pay normally includes the tips you give to the servers, stateroom hosts, etc etc, whereas when you book through DCL and others they are not. But believe me Virgin dont pay for them, you do, it is included in the price of your cruise, which is why they normally work out more expensive than booking through DCL which does not include tips.

Hope this helps

Molly: What problems are you hvaing?

Will the documents that i get show that i have paid for tips. Did you pay for any tips? If you didn't were you treated well still? Will the servers no that i have paid for tips?

Marv

I booked through DCL direct, so I paid my tips on the last night of the cruise, I recieved wonderful service so paid the tips no problem, I have heard of people you have paid more for exceptional service and I have also heard that people have paid less or nothing at all when the thought the service was poor, but I have to say I think that is very rare. You dont pay any tips until the end of your cruise, so the servers and stateroom host would not treat you any differently throughout the cruise, because they would not know if you were going to tip them or not, but I think you will find that they more than earn their tips as most go out of their way for your enjoyment, after all they earn very little money and relay on their tips.

I dont think they it will state on your cruise line documents that your tips have already been included(if indeed they have, check with Virgin first)but if they have I would presume it does say so on your booking form from Virgin.

You will pick up a lot of information over on the DCL boards, and if you do a search on tips, you will come up with loads of peoples opinions.

If your tips are not included, when you get your documents, it will tell you in there how much each person (not stateroom) is recommended to tip and who to tip based on the number of nights you cruise. They are they same amount for Children as well as adults. You can also find this info over on the cruise boards. You pay them on the last night of your trip, you give them directly to the person you are tipping in little envelopes which are left in your stateroom on your last night with each persons name on, either in cash, or if you want to pay by credit card or travellers checks, go to guest services onboard and they will sort it out for you.

Hopefully all of this will already be included in the price of your cruise from Virgin, but it might just be worth checking with them.

If you need any more info, let me know.

I remember reading that tips were included in the price when I first looked at booking the cruise with Virgin and totally forgot about asking the board - so thanks for reminding me although I hope everyone knows I have already paid and they won't think we are the tight english bunch!!!

UPDATE on my difficulties with Virgin - spoke to a brilliant girl called Sarah in the FV club who has sorted everything out for me. She was really helpfull and even gave me my stateroom number (2070)!!! But as helpfull as she was still no chance of getting a Cruise DVD - can any of you help me out here???

Thanks to all of you for your help and advice - don't know what I would do without you all - probably drive DH mad!!!
:) :) :) :earsboy: :earsboy:

Marv - tips dont show up on your tickets, on your last night (or the night before cant remember) you will get vouchers delivered to your room & envelopes with the names of your servers etc on. Just put the correct vouchers in each envelope & give them to your servers etc. We had amazing servers on our trip & we put some extra cash in with the vouchers for them.
Just remember to check your room statement/account as sometimes they automatically deduct tips from it, they did this with us but then credited it back no problem!
