Have you been to Backyard BBQ

We did it years ago with our neighbor's family. Three girls then aged around 7 (they are 15-16 now). The food was OK, similar to what you get at Trails End. Chicken, ribs, beans, slaw… They had games for the kids, characters, and music. Both moms and the kids did a line dancing thing that was fun. Was it worth doing once? Yes, but we have not been back.

We were there last year and our girls loved it. Basiclly the food was listed in the PP, which was good. The chicken was great. This is where our girls were able to see Mickey, Minnie and Goofy also personally. The characters come out and dance with the kids. You have to like country music or you will go crazy. There is also a lasso demo. My girls were ages 4, 2 and 3 months, so you kids ages are great. The older girls already asked when they will be able to dance with Minnie again.:cool1:

We went and while it was nice I deffinately would'nt spend 2 TS credits on it again.

We went and left early, it was so LOUD! Several other couples left because of the noise as well. Little ones would like it, our DD was 11 and too old to dance with the characters. The food was picnic style and you had to wait in line and hope to find a picnic table to sit at. Not worth 2 TB in my opinion.

If your 4 and 8yr old like the characters and are not shy, they will love MBYBBQ. We go every year and take our 8Yr old DGS and it is his favorite show at DW.

Be sure and get there early and grab a table before going to the buffet. It is best to sit at a table that is along the dance floor, that way the parents can eat and keep an eye on their kiddos. Either Mom or Dad can hold the seats while the rest go up to the buffet. The food is typical Bar-B-Que, ribs, chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers(the absolute worst burger I have ever tried), cole slaw, baked beans, corn bread, corn on the cob, etc. The desserts are in small freezers, I think I saw Mickey Bars, Popsicles, etc. They also have all the beer and wine and soft drinks you can drink. They serve beer, wine and lemonade while you are waiting for the buffet to open.

The band is pretty good, they have a show and some singing and dancing, but the main draw is dancing with the characters. It is a mad house and yes it is noisy but the kids seem to love it.

Even if you are on the dining plan they will take your credit card # when you make the ADR. They say they will not charge it unless you don't show up. Well, this is the first time in 7 years that they charged my card. I always check my statement and the charge was there. :headache: It took me 3 hours to get it taken care of ( Well, they say they are going to give me a credit, I have to wait till the end of the month to see) :rolleyes1 So just be careful they don't charge you if you are on DP. You pick up your tickets when you check into your hotel and they will immediately take off 2 TS credits per person when they give you the tickets.

Go and enjoy!:goodvibes

Your kids will probably like it, but i wasn't really a fan. I thought the food was average at best and the pavilion felt crowded and it was really LOUD. I went through the buffet line for food only once even though I was hungry still.. there were just so many people!

Maybe other people had a better experience than we did, but I will definitely not go back.

It probably depends on your children. I looked the BBQ up on utube, thought it looked like a lot of fun. We were making ADRs based on having fun (as it was our first trip) than the food itself. We can eat at home - we wanted to go home with Disney memories. Anyhow the videos looked like a wonderful time, so I booked it.

My DDs aren't exactly shy - however, the size of the characters freaked one of them out. I thought all the talk/showing, etc. she would be prepared - but when Minnie came at her - she panicked and ran the other way screaming to go home. So if your children have not been to Disney before - I wouldn't do the same as I did, and book it for your first night. Give them time to feel comfortable with the characters. Thankfully my DD was comfortable with them a couple of days later. . .and this year she is begging to go back to the BBQ.

We really enjoyed the food. It was my DH's favorite meal (food wise) of our whole trip.

It is really loud. It does get crowded and parents tend to push their kids to get that special pic. . .so you do need to be mindful of your children. .sadly. . .to make sure they don't get knocked around. I would suggest you look the BBQ up on utube, and see if it looks like your kind of fun.

LOL - I typed a mouthful, sorry. We plan to go again this year. For us it was worth the noise, the crowd and the two TS credits. And I expect my DD to handle it better this time. :)

Good look deciding.

We just came back from going to the BBQ Friday night. Although the food was ok, the time we had was great. We were with my DD 18 months, nephew 5, and DD 11. They all had a great time. The baby didn't stop dancing from the moment she got there. It was one of our greatest memories. We ate at so many other great restaurants, I wasn't as concerned about the quality of the food, it is only a BBQ, but the experience was well worth it.
