Have You Been to any Triple D Places?

3 of the places he's been to in Cleveland, including one that we used to go to all the time when I was in college (Geraci's - italian restaurant).

Without looking at the list I recall three; Rosie's Diner, Joe's Gizzard City, and Michigan Brewing Company where I used to work. He did a bit there with Kid Rock.

Memphis Tap Room in Philadelphia

Great food but crowded with too many tables in a small room. The waitress mentioned that the place was extra crowded due to the show.

We haven't yet, but we plan on trying Mom's Tamales in LA in June. I am hopeful that they are really good! I also need to look at the address, so that I know what area it's in. I have only been to LA once.

I've been to Marietta Diner (several times!) and Matthews Cafeteria, both here in Georgia. Both were good, and I try to go to Marietta Diner whenever we're in the area. They always give me way more food than I can eat and the desserts are delicious. Hopefully I'll make it to some of the others soon.

Blow Fly Inn, Gulfport, MS - I have been eating here since I was a child. It was one of my grandmother's favorites - she liked the steak. If you go, try the fried dill pickles. I visited as recently as a few months ago, and my 12 year old DD went just this past weekend on a church youth group trip. When I was little, they would put a little plastic fly on your plate - that was a lot of fun. The building now is much less divey than it was before Katrina.

The Shed, Ocean Springs, MS - This is a really fun place to visit. We enjoyed the BBQ, and the prices were great. I ate there before it had the name recognition that it has now, and we also watched the TV series for this one when it was on.

I have more than likely been to some of the New Orleans dives, but I am more likely to recognize them by sight.

Love, love, love The Shed! It really IS a dive but great brisket! The opened one in Hattiesburg but it just wasn't as good as the original and closed after a few months. If anyone comes this way and wants BBQ, don't be scared of the looks of the place, it really is great.

Gatsby's Diner in Sacramento. The food was pretty good, they had the grilling station right in the middle of the seating area so you could watch them grill your meat. The restaurant closed about a year or so ago though. Not because of lack of interest, but because the spoiled rich owners decided that running a restaurant was too hard. o_O

We've been to both of those too ...LOVE the Shed..isn't there one in Gulfport now too? I seem to remember going to both Gulfport and Ocean Springs. We didn't like the Blow Fly Inn...not sure if we were just there on an off day or what but I had the She Crab Bisque and it tasted like flour..nothing but Flour and hubby had the Gumbo and you could tell the roux was burnt...it was really bad. Maybe we just had bad luck that day we tried. That was a few years ago so I would be willing to try again when we are back that way.

Prices Chicken Coop in Charlotte. A whole in the wall but awesome fried chicken. Cash and take out only.

Altho I have never eaten AT The Shed-we had their pulled pork Bar B q sandwich at their Food Booth in Ocean Springs MS during the huge Car Show-Cruisin the Coast!

Also CASAMENTO's in new Orleans...a few times-GREAT oyster po-Boys!

We've been to quite a few, especially the ones that are local to us.

Brick Oven Pizza - Baltimore, MD - Very good pizza, but I'm not sure special trip worthy
Broadway Diner - Baltimore, MD - I really liked some of it and was disappointed in other things
Galway Bay Irish Pub - Annapolis, MD - As good as advertised, will definitely be back
Joe Squared Pizza - Baltimore, MD - Some of the best pizza I've ever had, will be back
La Caraquena - Falls Church, VA - Amazing, great service, still one of my favorite restaurants ever
Jamaicaway - Nashville, TN - Very good, would return if in Nashville again
Comet Café - Milwaukee, WI - OMG, I would eat here again in a moment, delicious, wish I had a reason to go back to Milwaukee

We went to one place in Phoenix (can't remember the name.) The tables were so close together the waitresses could barely maneuver. So crowded we couldn't hear ourselves think, and the food wasn't all that wonderful either.

Also went to the Red Iguana in Salt Lake City, Utah. Food was fine, but no better than other Mexican food restaurants we frequent here in the Phoenix area.

DH really enjoys watching DDD. I can't stand Guy.

We were on vacation in Virginia Beach and ate at a place called Sandals or Flip Flops? I can't remember the name. It was just okay.

South 21 in Charlotte- burgers, onion rings, etc. A local drive in place- I think it is fine but nothing special.

Jake's Good Eats in Mint Hill area- good for casual lunch. Was great, but has kinda gone a bit downhill since it appeared on Triple D. It got a little TOO busy and popular, and the quality and service suffered, IMO.

Don't really watch the show, but I'm perpetually curious and found a fansite list of places he's visited for (I think) the show.

Looks like I've been to five or six, but most aren't really dives. I've passed by the last Tex Wasabi's. Seemed kind of interesting but somewhat touristy.

Clanton's Cafe in Vinita, OK was very "eh", and I dearly love diner food. I ADORE chicken fried steak, and if that's their claim to fame, it's not much of a claim. Vintage Route 66 exterior is nice, though....

Only the Twisted Root Burger Company in the Dallas area. I really enjoyed their food.

I haven't been to the exact restaurant, but I remember seeing an episode featuring the "Horseshoe" located in Springfield, IL. (with the help of Google it is a place called Charlie Parker's Diner). I remember seeing the episode and thinking wow that is a common local treat.
