I did it once to submit a petion for a larger parking lot.Anyone else

Many times for all different reasons.

My dh goes often, I watch on local access. Waaayyy too political for me. I get hopping mad at times.

I did it for many, many months and then had to go before the entire town to give my proposal to have the district add a high school football team. After months and months of work and research they turned it down :( (idiots! LOL)
Turned out we moved anyways that summer! LOL
It was fun tho putting it all together.....
sorry....didn't mean to ramble........................:p

I went to my first one a couple of weeks ago. Very very scary to how scripted everything was and how no one can think outside the box.

We live outside of Columbus, Ohio. If anyone gets a chance, watch the Columbus School Board meeting on public access t.v. It is a hoot!!!!!! There is one board member who shows up in combat boots and camouflage clothes as hhe feels he is going into combat when he comes to these meetings. One day as I was watching he took one of his combat boots off and started banging it on the table during the entire meeting while chanting anti school board President chants. I really love watching it. I wish it could go nation wide as I feel it is more entertaining than Survivor or the Bachelor.

I do, for budget purposes. They keep building new schools here and the taxes go through the roof. We are the only county with so many schools.

Yes, I was very involved last year to keep full day kindergarten away. I got up and spoke as well, and lets just say I learned a big lesson!!! NEVER get up and speak unless you have a clear concept of what you want to say! It was so emotional and I got up to speak on behalf of our side and instead ended up sounding like a babbling idiot.   Usually I am very well prepared, and I have coherent thoughts and words, not this time. But I learned!

PS they didn't pass it!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I know it is only a matter of time, but hopefully my DD will make it through before it comes to pass.

Yes, I've been to them. It was rather frustrating listening to the board members back and forth, not accomplishing anything. I don't bother anymore. They listen to the taxpayers to appease them, but they do what they want anyway.

Snowball were you there that night? What a hilarious guy!
Saw it on tv.

No, I don't go to mine...too political, not to mention it does not matter what I would say, they do not listen.

Four a month, plus twice a month school visits with the boards, plus daily phone calls to the two superintendants (one city, one county), plus nearly-daily visits to the schools. Oh, did I mention I'm the education reporter for the local paper? :p If you think it's boring to WATCH them, try being the one who COVERS them!

I have been many times, for various reasons and with differing degrees of success!

Everyone should go to one at least once. It can be quite an eye-opener.

My all-time favorite was when a man who had been on the board for several years asked the board secretary why they were always giving money every month to MISC. He wanted to know who that was? He was serious. He didn't even seem embarrassed when she told him it was miscellaneous. Made me wonder why he waited three years to find out.
