Have you been on the "Behind the Seeds" tour?

Just wondering what the "Behind the Seeds" tour is like and if children, ages 7 and 11 would like it?

If they are really into plants, gardening, or agriculture, they'd probably enjoy it quite a bit. Do they like the boat ride through the greenhouse? Then they'll like the tour.

Look at it this way, it's short and inexpensive (by tour price standards). Why not take a chance.

My kids still talk about how I dragged them on that tour. I loved it but they didn't.

We did this on our last trip. It was the exact same thing you see on the boat tour. I was hoping to learn about something new, but it was seeing all the same items.

We did this last September and my kids really enjoyed it. They still talk about it. They were 9 and 4 at the time (both boys). Of course the 4 year old didn't get as much out of it, but the 9 year old was studying Botany for science and it was great for him.

The 4 year old enjoyed learning about bugs and releasing the lady bugs. They both like the tomato tree and mickey cuccumbers and pumpkins. The 9 year old liked seeing roots in the "air" and different types of plants. He's very much a science type of kid though.

I was very glad we did it. When we go to WDW we go for 10-12 days. It was a nice "special" thing to do. (they also LOVED the pirate cruise as a special event). However, if you're short on time, your kids would probably rather just keep doing rides.

Hi, we're a bunch of biogeeks, and are doing the tour on August 5.
DD, DS and DH all loved the boat ride, so are excited to do the tour.

One thing to keep in mind, every participant needs photo ID. So now I have to come up with some, with DS and DD's birthdates.

I posted on a different forum. Hope someone has some ideas.

Ok, I may be lost and lots of things have changed since Dec (like I just found out that you can now book ADRs 180 days in advance!!!), but where does it say that you need photo ids?

I don't remember needing them at all and we went last September. If we did need them, I'm sure only the adults had them - I didn't take anything "special" for the kids. The only id's my kids had were their tickets.

Anyway, like I said, maybe this has changed, but I was wondering where you found it. Thanks.

The CM on the phone told me that all parties going 'backstage' had to have photo ID.

We just did this tour last week with DD8. We all really enjoyed it. Our guide, Ben, made a real effort to engage DD, as she was the only child. She loved feeding the sturgeon, seeing the baby alligators, the ladybug release, tasting the cucumbers, talking about her science fair project, seeing the bugs (through glass) lots of it! Plus she just loved being back there, watching the boat ride go by. (She waved at a few.) We are actually going to try some hydroponic gardening at home after learning about it on the tour. DD loves gardening, so that helps.

BTW, none of us were asked for ID, which is a good thing, as I left my license home (dumb). I didn't even know they might ask for it. Neither grown-ups nor DD was asked for any sort of ID other than my credit card. Plus, really the 9/11 hijackers got driver's licenses, what does showing ID accomplish for security? (Off soapbox)
