Checking in again with the crud-does it ever leave you? Gearing up for my 12 hour day shift tomorrow-what a perfect place to be when your sick-the hospital.
Prayers and PD for all who need it.
August seems like a pretty good time for us. My kids want to be home for Halloween next year. Those park hours seem pretty good to me because we've gone twice now the last week in October and on most nights the MK closed early for all of the MNSSHP they have.
10 days probably wouldn't have seemed so bad but we had my sick DS and my DD starting with the crud. I spent half of Halloween in the walk in clinic and that is my DH B-Day.
I guess I will miss the Lizard meet by a little bit in August. I think we are planning some sort of cruise for my DH B-day in October-it's the big 4-0 for him. Luckily-I am 6 years younger so I have a little ways to go

Howdy y'all!

Just thought I'd check in on this brisk Saturday night and catch up on the past few pages. PD, tea and honey, and kleenex for everyone experiencing the "crud" and/or flu.

A slight correction to BT's post about the Sonora Suite still being held. No longer. I called Disney today and cancelled the Suite and my participation in the Lizard meet in May. My doctor says "No Way!". He actually added a little extra verbage to the "No Way" comment, but this is a family chat room after all.

Monday is the day of reckoning for me. I find out when I am to be operated on and what type of knee they'll replace me with. I already received a phone call from the hospital asking me to give them a copy of any "advanced directive" and "Living will" I may have. Gee, really gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling about this surgery. Before I had the confidence of Hercules, that this was the right thing to do. After that phone call, I'm not so sure.

I'll keep you informed as I will be off-line for a few weeks while I recover in the hospital and in rehab.

To everyone going to Disney, please give Mickey a hug for me and tell him I hope to see him soon!

My cast is off and I'm off the crutch and off the cane. Now I have 30 days to strengthen my ankle, so i can make it around World Showcase. I am not getting an ECV. Not going to do it. I will walk.

I am just surrounded with sad news right now. Have to keep my focus on my trip. Just shoving these blinders up and will continue making my plans.

Thanks lovesdumbo and steveanddonna for the Poly bed report. I hope it will be okay for me. Whine, whine, whine...

I need some more help. My son and his wife, should I keep the WL or AKL for them?? I made a ressie at WL because then they would be right next door to the Poly. I figure it would be easy for them to get to us. They could take a boat to meet us at MK. Very relaxing. I'm thinking AKL is pretty far away from the MK and Poly. Am I right?? Would Boma make up for their long drive to get to us?? I know he will never eat at Whispering Canyon. However, they will love Artist Point. But they would love Boma and Jiko at AKL. I'm so confused.

He wants to just drive everywhere. If he drove from AKL to the Poly, how long would that take? He could just valet park there since he would have valet parked at his resort right?? Oh bother...

Thanks for you rkind words Steffy. If your son stays at AKL, it IS FAR away from MK and everything else for that matter. If he decides to forego Disney transportation (which I highly recommend), it is still between a 20-30 minute drive to MK or Poly. If he takes Dis transportation - it is at a minimum, 45 - to 1.25 hours to go anywhere. I was there in February, so unless they've had a MAJOR transport overhaul. Well, let's just say, it IS a haul.

Congrats on your ankle and ITA about the ECVs - that's why I canceled my attendance at mini-meet in May. I call they motorized foot-breakers!

Thanks mmausse! That was just the answer I needed. WL it is.

I was able to call 45 days out and get a cancellation. WL has been booked solid for the Christmas season for months. I have so many resorts booked, with deposits, by the time I sit and cancel, I will have enough money back on my card to prepay the real trip!!

I also have a ressie for my first two days at AKL. Standard, not CL. We have always wanted to stay at the AKL, we love Boma's for dinner, but know as much as we want to taste the Frunch, we will not make it from the Poly to AKL for breakfast... so I have the first two days booked at AKL. I also have the first two days booked at Poly GVC and GV. FWIW, my son doesn't arrive until my 3rd day....

Steffy - can you switch your AKL reservation to a savanna view room? Or are they booked? For your "first time" I cannot recommend the view enough! (Maybe I am misunderstanding your post and you mean standard service vs. concierge service...)

Good morning all! Just dropping in to the lounge to be sure the side board is restocked with everyone's favorite goodies to go with the cap, juice or beverage of your choice!

Against formidable odds, DS10's team has made it to their division soccer final this morning! Yesterday they had to defeat the one team that defeated them twice during the regular season. I'm thinking that the Red Sox against-all-odds performance this year has emphasized the power of BELIEVING for these kids!

mmausse... Wishing you well on your upcoming surgery and recuperation. I do understand about the ECV thing but have to mention that my DSis had broken her toe just a few days before our summer trip this year. For years she'd been waiting to do Disney with her nieces and nephews -- since rescheduling was out of the question, the ECV made a great trip possible...

Steffy... What I wouldn't give to be able to share a vacation like your planning with my own parents! The expression... "you don't know what you've got till it's gone"... is SOOO true. I will be ever grateful that for my parents' own 40th anniversary, my mother chose to book rooms for each of her 4 kids (with families) at a shore resort. She cherished the memories we made during that vacation, and so do we all! I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you... you've certainly gone out of your way to lay the groundwork for a wonderful holiday... I'll be tossing some PD your son's way in the hopes that he will appreciate the thought and care you've invested in this trip...

Christmas plans are still up in the air here. DH really doesn't want to go, either does DD. DS and I are looking at a mini Christmas visit, but with all of our holiday going-ons it will be difficult. Oh how I wish airfare were better priced after Christmas than before! DD's bday is the 23rd of December, my Father's Christmas is Christmas Eve, and of course Christmas day. Our anniversary is the 29th, with my birthday the following 4th of January. If we're not together I can skip the after Christmas stuff, but not before! My father will also be in England two days after Christmas for a few (weeks?), so that is also affecting my decisions.

BT>> What are your dates in January? If I pull off the 14th-17th I am stealing a day, but I would probably do just that. Possibly coming in the night of the 13th.

On the other hand, why not go before Christmas - for example, DD and I are going the day she gets out of school for Winter Break - Dec. 17th. We'll be home a few days before Christmas.

To quote Barack Obama, our new senator from Illinois, Yes we can! My plans are to arrive on Tues. of that week, with DH meeting me on Fri. for a long weekend. Any lizards who want to share a room during the first part of the week, pm me - I invited a friend to come along, but I might be going solo if she can't get time off. DH and I will check into the Poly on Fri., but I'm open to exploring other resorts, as long as it's concierge level and non-smoking!

Debbieyour December sounds like our June - totally hectic, but fun.

Hey everyone. Hope this finds all in good health, spirits, etc. My appointment didn't go as good as it could have. I was really thinking that I would go and he would say it was a fluke and everything was fine. Instead, when I told him about my "deja vu" problems I had had since high school he said I had been having seizures all along. They just weren't the full blown grand mal seizure. So, I cannot drive for 6 months, I am now on medication, have to get my blood check every two weeks to make sure it doesn't affect my liver, and I have to go up for more tests because he has not ruled out epiliepsy. I know a lot of people have seizure problems and worse problems than that, I guess I just had not prepared myself. Oh well, as I said before, 6 months will make it faster to count down to our next trip!! Sorry this is so long but there is just not a short explanation!

BT: I THINK we're going in May, just my mother, the girls and I...we won't know for another couple of months, and I can't imagine us swinging concierge, I'm thinking POFQ...but if we go, we're looking at May 18-23 or so...

sfbank: I'm sorry you didn't get the all-clear, hon, but give yourself some time to adjust to the idea, and to work on managing the problem, and I think you'll find you're okay. I will keep praying for peace, health, and all the answers you need.

OH, sfbank I am sorry you were unprepared for the news you got. You must be very diosappointed. And scared. I'm sorry and you are in my thoughts. You are taking care of this, though, and following your doctor's orders so I know things will turn out ok.

I am completely spoiled! My Birthday trip in February is already mostly planned. Don emailed me this evening with my February itinerary and I'm booked on the Wanyama Safari!! Also the Sunrise Safari, Dinner at Cali Grill our first night to coincide (hopefully) with Wishes ; I'm also going to ask him to sign us up for the Segway Tour - been waiting for a chance to do that one! Also, dinner at Citricos (never been) and either spa treatments and Afternoon Tea at GF or massages at AKL. Can't wait
Any other ideas for a fabulous getaway with a girlfriend?

Checking in real quick-I'm exhausted. 12 hours on your feet at work just isn't the same as 12 hours on your feet in WDW-LOL.
mmause-Prayers and PD to you dear-a new knee is what you need though, just think-you will be as good as new after rehab. Maybe even better than before to stroll around the parks when your well. And please don't feel bad about the advanced directive, living will thing-it is now a standard question to ask on admission to the hospital. Even all of my pregnant girls have to answer those questions.
sfbank-So sorry you didn't get the news you expected, but it sounds as if you've known all along that you had something-you just didn't know what. Thank God it didn't happen while you were driving or somewhere you could have been seriously hurt. Think of it as I think someone has said here already-you will have your own personal chauffeur for the next 6 months! Think of as your transfer from the airport to your hotel in Disney-Lizard style.
Steffy-Congratulations on getting your cast off. That's great news! Hope evryone else is well and happy planning to all of you going to WDW real soon. Trying to work on my next vacation to Disney.

Thanks for the PM Claudia. I just can't fly to CA - I don't fly anymore. But I'll check w/ surgeon tomorrow to see what he says. My PT highly recommended ceramic as they last between 20-30 years - but not a lot of docs do them either.

BT - did you enjoy your televised family reunion special tonight - I taped it, so I can watch at my leisure later. You go girl!

Just returned last night from Panama City Beach. We had a wonderful time and DH finished Ironman Florida.


Our Christms trip saga continues. We found out during our trip that we got the house we wanted and that MIL is coming down for Christmas. She is flying in right as we were due to leave for AKL.

So......AKL is off and I booked the CR 14th floor for the 12th of Dec. instead.

Hope everyone had a great few days.

We're off to the Dr. for an ultrasound. We're hoping to find out what we are having.
