I am so excited about our upcoming anniversary trip with my hubby, brother, and sis-in-law.

What makes me most excited is that I was able to book Victoria & Alberts as well as an Illuminations cruise for Dec 6. Yeah!

We're all excited for you desiab!!!!:bounce: :bounce:

Isn't it wonderful that all those things have been "taken care of"!:teeth:

Lots of work at store for BT (between the on-line store and now decorating......."It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!" :faint:

Lots of goodies left out on the sideboard!

Big room wave to all!

SamnBilly - Glad to hear you had a decent time overall despite your child being sick and the kinks at BC. What wonderful news that your friend is doing so much better! Keeping her in my prayers for continued healing.

Debbie - Gosh, you sure do know how get someone to crack a smile! I want that MIL rate, too - **giggling**

BT - Can't wait to see the premier of your online store. We know it'll be fabulous. Your Yellowstone clippie is really cute! Your mom doesn't have a clue about WL trip for her b-day? She's such a sweetie. I know it must be loads of fun surprising your mother and father. They were a pleasure to hang out with on safari. BTW, you need to make some room for us lizards here for your trip to the Pres Suite at the Poly. We will begin our contortionists lessons immediately following lunch today in preparation for it. :jester: ;)

Desiab - V&A and an Illuminations cruise...What an awesome plans you have!

I'm in the mood for Christmas!!!!! Reading your posts about your upcoming Christmas plans and having 90% of my shopping done has kicked me into high gear. I don't think DH is going to be able to stand me...I'm already on him about getting the tree up the weekend before Thanksgiving so I can have it decorated by the time we have our family over for thanksgiving night for dinner. Plus, I put a bug in his ear about a having Christmas party at our house again. Poor thing has to put up with rambunctious me. Somehow, he survives me though - LOL!

You all have a great afternoon if I don't get a chance to pop back in. Hugs, prayers & PD to all in need!

ead79-My memory isn't the best post children, but here it goes-The Sugarloaf concierge had the usual breakfast layout-bagels, pastries, cereals, fruits, croissants, and juice,milk,coffee-and they DO have a cappucino machine. Snacks during the day were tea biscuits, cookies, banana bread, assorted jams, mixed nuts. Then toward the evening they had two hot items-like chicken and some sort of beef on a stick, veggies and dip, I think they had cookies out all the time. We weren't around much at this time. You could also ask for sodas-oh they also had assorted pastries and desserts during the evening offerring. It did close at 7pm but we were able to get stuff later if we asked for it. My DD has a severe peanut allergy and they made her up a plate of special treats every night. They also had rice krispy treats and some other stuff. We didn't even really miss the lounge being open later. The absolute only thing I missed about the main bldg was the view we had previously of the castle. But if we stood on our balcony, we could see the fireworks, which was good. Hope this helps.

Thanks, samnbilly! Wow, I guess I was just under the impression that Sugarloaf didn't have nearly that much variety in their food offerings. That's a ton of food! I also thought service ended at 4pm, not 7. Looks like I will have to consider a Sugarloaf stay! ::yes::

BT, please post a link to your online store once it's done. I would love to check it out. :)

I would love to see the on-line store when it's up and running BT. I know you can't post a link on the boards, how about a PM to those who ask?

Also, a quick tech question--why is it when I copy and paste a "quote"; the quote comes up fine, but the "originally posted by *****" part doesn't appear? When I put the quote in, I copy the selected text, hit the quote button, paste the text, and hit ok. What am I doing wrong. . .?????

Debbie mother-in-law rate. . .bwwwaaaaahhhhaaaaaa! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Welcome home samnbilly!

BT - I would love to see the online store too, please, when you are ready.

samnbilly - really glad your friend is doing better and that you had a nice trip - I hope DS is feeling better.

desiab - make sure you report on that Illuminations cruise! I am hoping to get one for February and would love to hear about your experience!

You guys are making me jealous with your Christmas "preparedness" - LOL - our Thanksgiving is over so I don't even have that excuse!! I haven't gotten a single thing done for Christmas - ah well, the stores usually put up their Christmas decorations over the next few weeks, and that usually gets me in the mood. I really want DS to have fond memories of Christmas (he's just coming to the stage at almost 3 where he "gets it"). DH and I don't have any family other than the 3 of us, and I have such good memories of "family time" at Christmas when I was young that I want him to have - so I am really going to try and make our our *small* celebration special. Even though we might want to strangle our families at times, it's so important to have those memories - cause you sure cherish them when they are gone.

Well - that sounded pretty sappy!!!!!!! LOL Didn't mean to be a downer!!

Hope all is well with everyone. Take care and have a good night.:earsgirl:

Tess, For the "originally posted by..." to appear, you have to use the quote button at the lower right of the post you are quoting, instead of the html shortcut in the post reply window. You can still edit out the extraneous copy if you want (see above) Hope this helps/makes sense

Perfect--what doesn't make sense is that I failed to ever see the "quote" button at the bottom of a post--Lord knows, I've hit the edit button enough that I rarely wait for it to actually appear visually. . .my cursor knows it's way without my eyes actually seeing! Thanks steveanddonna!

Not sappy at all, DutchsMommy, and I'm sure as he grows up he'll be appreciative of your effort. It took me a long time to realize that my own fond memories from childhood could not be repeated with my own children. Nor was it necessary or even possible to do so. Over time we've come to invent/embrace an eclectic combination of extended family rituals as well as our own family-of-5 traditions. I've come to notice how strongly our kids value our "traditions" when I dare to even suggest deviating in a slight way! Things I didn't even KNOW were traditions in their eyes hold great meaning and value for them, including holiday rituals, vacation rituals... you name it! So plan away and add your own special touches... consider your wonderful memories from youth as the valuable training you've had that will allow you to create the next generation's memories!

[OK... NOW who's getting sappy... think I'm running a sleep deficit here...]

PD to all in need and a welcome back to the many travelers who've returned to the lounge recently...:grouphug:

ITA!!!! :grouphug:

I wasn't able to call any lizards today! :(
But, ya'll know that you're in my thoughts and prayers!

And, I'll let ya'll know when the store is "open".
Have to put in the "shopping carts" and finish with my jewelry, shawls, and sleepwear pages.:crazy2: :faint:

Just the "tip of the iceberg" will be on-line.
As least, for now!:sunny:

Keeping this thread on topic.....here's a link to my

Webshots Home page with Concierge pictures! ;)

It finally got cold here and the election is OVER!
Starting to get busy! :teeth:

samnbilly Glad you had a great trip and that your friend is doing better. We started to process a death claim kit for a customer for life ins today. He passed away yesterday-44 yrs old, a daughter in college and a son in high school. Found out he had cancer about 3 months ago.:(

Hope all the lizards are well and having fun. I know I wish i was going this Dec instead of next!!

Hi everyone! First I want to send prayers and pd for all that are in need. It seems like it has been a very difficult couple of days for many of our lounge. :grouphug:

I have been home ill today. Got that tummy crud that is going around. I have not gotten a thing done around here, but I did catch up on some much needed sleep ::yes::

I need your help. Today I booked reservations for May and the lizzards meet. We booked at the Poly, however I am wondering if we made a good decision. We have a lagoon view CL room as of now. Is this a good choice? I guess part of me is thinking AKL, but also want to try other resorts. Please give me any input you may wish to share, good and bad.

Thanks,

Angel

Debbie - you're hilarious re. the MIL rates...:p

I just ordered this "healthy" back pack from LL Bean for my December trip - anyone have experience with these one-sling backpacks?? Do they stay in place? I really like the way it looks:cool:

backpack1.jpg

I have two healthy back bags (I have a very bad situation going on with my spine) and LOVE them. If you lift the bag you think...hmmmmm that's no lighter and then sling it onto your shoulder and the weight is GONE! I was a devoted D&B bag girl...and still wear one when I'm dressing to impress...but these are wonderful! Highly recommend them.

Fliers...Yes, I understand. I guess my hubby spends sooooo much time in the Q that when he saw the pics it wasn't even an option! Besides, my family loves concierge!

GoofyMuse...did you celebrate "Little Christmas"...aka The Epithany? We did as children. When we lived in Spain (for four years on the Spanish economy) my daughter wondered why all her friends recieved presents when the Three Kings came and she didn't. Thereafter MY family started having two days of festivities. The Three Kings brough little gifts, candies, fruit, coloring books, crayons and perhaps one doll....with all of the major gifts given by Santa. When we came home it suddenly dawned on her that people in the US did not celebrate Three Kings Day and she was distraught. She came running into the house crying, "How will the Three Kings find me?" (they were much more real to her due to all of the ceremonies and parades through the streets of Spanish Towns for 10 days...always with the Three Kings on horses looking for the baby...they would throw candy and small trinkets to the kids...she wasn't concerned about Santa at all. A short time later she told all of her friends about the Three Kings and told them that since they would come to her she knew that they would start visiting them.....consequently we then provided ALL of the neighborhood children with small gifts, left on their doorsteps, every Jan 6th...*L*....funny how traditions begin....

Good morning all.

Goofysuse I know what you mean about the "Q". We are also huge CL fans, now to just "corrupt" my DF. :teeth:

Angel I am sure that you will have a great time at the Poly. We haven't stayed there yet, but I always hear glowing reviews. I think it is great to try new resorts.

Well, as for the dilema involving DF and SOG, I think I may have had a breakthrough. I think I may have convinced them to do a split stay. I know that they don't see the reason to spend the extra $ on GF, Poly or YC, but heck, this is my vacation too!!! So, maybe 2-3 night at SOG and then switch to CL at YC, GF or Poly. Do you think that I will be able to get good AP rates for 5/8-5/14?Maybe staying somewhere FABULOUS will make my DF into a true Disney convert.

Well, if you look at my counter, we are off to the world in just a few days. Do you think that if I contact Alana at YC IPO she will be able to send someone up here to pack for me.......

GoofySuse... Actually, we didn't. My mom's family celebrated the Epiphany as THE gifting day when she was growing up, but she didn't carry it on with us. For us it was always Christmas Eve. With our own kids when they were little, since we live quite a drive from the extended family, we typically spent the actual holidays as nomads, living out of suitcases, travelling from one family gathering to another. We'd return home (often exhausted!) to find a "note from Santa" with a count-down calendar highlighting which day he'd "return" for our kids! They never thought twice about that being at all odd and we always loved our special celebration albeit "late".

Now that they're older we've modified things a bit and sometimes spend the actual holiday at home (usually travelling afterward). I'm beginning to prefer this, although the kids thought our earlier "nomadic traditions" were just fine and still talk fondly of those memories.

Our favorite "original tradition" came about quite by accident. We typical decorate our tree the first Saturday in December and it is always an elaborate project as we have many ornaments, each with their own story to tell. I'm typically not in the mood to cook after the project and one year decided we would just put out a spread of finger foods and hors d'oeuvres. The caveat was that all the edibles were either red, green or white. So we spread a blanket, lit some candles, and had a great night!

The following year, the kids asked me when we were doing "the red and green picnic"! Turns out they just loved this impromtu celebration! Over time, they've added a "secret person" gift exchange to the festivities (we draw names at Thanksgiving and then make or choose an inexpensive gift or treat for the exchange). The kids also completely plan the menu these days and have gotten quite creative! If we can hold out until then (and if I don't chicken out from actually doing this trip!), it will be at the "red and green picnic" that our kids will open that one last "gift" that will be inviting them to Disney 5 days later!

Bet you were thinking this off-topic ramble would never circle back to a Disney topic! ;) I'm thinking I'd better head on off to work to help finance our "big dreams"! :teeth: Think I'll just grab a double "cap" on the way out... big chill in the air today! :drinking1

GoofysMuse ~ What a great tradition and an awesome way to tell the kids. Hopefully they won't think that a yearly Christmas trip to Disney will now become part of your tradition! Although, that's not really a bad thing.

Update on my DD joining us is that things are looking good so far. Alana e-mailed me saying that she would alert the room assignor of our need for a room with a daybed and that as of right now, there are still tickets available for the 12/12 MVMCP. I talked with DD yesterday and she is so excited. She's going to check exam times with her professor and get back to me so that I can book her flight down. There's a small airport located about 20 minutes from her school, but the flight choices are limited. She'd either have to fly out at 1pm or 5pm and then make a brief stop in Atlanta. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one of those flight times will work with her schedule.

I'm going to grab a mocha cap on my way out also. It's a beautiful fall day here and DD8 and I had fun crunching through the leaves on the walk to school this morning.

I've been mostly away from the puter for a couple of days, feeling cruddy...

Goofy's Muse, I absolutely Love your Red and Green picnic idea, how utterly wonderful!

Samnbilly, I'm so glad to hear your friend is doing so much better, and that your trip went well!

BT - wonderful work on the new clippies I've been seeing. I'm intrigued by the news of your online store!

Prayers to everyone who needs em, Angel, I hope you're feeling better today...

And a huge thank you to everyone who replied about my stepson's golf achievement! We appreciated that!

I've added a picture to the Disboards photo site...I'm just waiting for approval, and then I'll work at linking it into my signature, so you can see my pretty girls.

Love,

Kris

KRIS!! I see them:teeth: They are precious:earsgirl: :earsgirl: (Sorry you've been unwell)

Hope everyone's having a good day. DD is home sick and we're going to the doctor in a moment...I fear she may have strep throat:earseek: Hope not. Poor baby... Says her throat feels like it's being cut by knives:(

Tammi How nice that you can walk your little girl to school
:sunny:
Sounds like your Christmas plans are coming together:bounce:

GoofySuse Thanks so much for the info on the backpacks...can't wait until it gets here:teeth:

Have a nice day everyone:wave2:

storybookmum - What a cute picture! And yes they are precious (but you already know that).

Yea, that Red & Green picnic idea is really cute, and the kids are so attached to it.

BambiTamby - Love the new holiday clippie y'all are sporting these days. Gotta see if I can get one of those Mickey wreaths for the front door this year. The kids will KNOW I've gone over the edge.

Well everyone have a great day.

Angel-I really love the Poly. We visited AKL last week and while I really liked it I don't think I could get myself to stay there. I'ld like to do a split stay trip there but I could never get my DH to sleep around. What I really love about the Poly is the relaxing atmosphere and the additional magic with the MK just across the lagoon. We could watch the castle changing colors all night from our lagoon view room and watch the fireworks and see the nightly Electric Water Pagent which my DD(5) loved. She'd make herself stay awake til 9 so she could see it. And in the morning you can hear the train whistle from the MK railroad. I would really miss the castle and fireworks if I stayed at AKL. I can't remember who you'll be traveling with. We really liked the transportation options at Poly. Boat or monorail to MK, bus to MGM and AK and walk to TTC for direct monorail for Epcot. The monorail access is great if you've got a stroller. That said, from what I've read the planning offices at AKL CL and Epcot resorts seems to be better than Poly but they've always been fine for me. Also since the other lizards are staying at BWI for lizzarad meet would it be easier if you stayed at YC/BC or BWI?
