 to all the LL

Angel, so nice to see your post. We'll be back to the AKL Concierge in a matter of days and cannot wait!

You mentioned no dessert cordials...Does that mean no more bottles of Baileys, Kaula, etc??? I so loved having my Kaula and Cream before beddie bye! Am really going to miss that.

Sharon

GASP! No Kalua? Can't have that!! I used to a straight shot of it at night (sipping it of course) just to take the edge off. :) It IS good with Milk though too.

It was suggested that we all may want to write letters, as Disney is trying to make ALL the lounges the same. It was said that the oatmeal was one of the things that set AKL apart. And oatmeal is certainly not a money issue.

Polynesian has always offered oatmeal and brown sugar, too. I'm not sure why that would set AKL apart since Polynesian did likewise. The answer is that all of them should offer it! ::yes:: My daughter (14) LOVES (and has since a wee thing) her oatmeal in the a.m.--even in June! To have that loss would be tantamount to losing our hard fought war to have beer returned to concierge! It could become a "grass oats" movement should the powers that be remove it from the lounges of concierge! :teeth:

Am I not reading carefully enough--I thought she said it was Zebra Domes that were missing from the dessert/cordial table--not the cordials themselves??

Hightown & Majestic - They DO have Cordials Do not worry. Your evening Baileys, Kaula and all are there and waiting for you!:p

They do not have hot oatmeal for breakfast or bottled water to take with you. But, they have added beer. ::yes::

I am sorry if my post was confussing.

:wave2: Fred,

I added my January dates (8-11). I do have one incorrect entry though for this November/December. I can't seem to correct it myself (I have no idea what I must've made the password because everything I try doesn't work  ). What do I do?

Click the email link on the page and tell me the dates and what you want me to fix or if you just want me to delete it for you so you can re-enter.

Fred

We MUST start our campaign to bring back the oatmeal! It has been discontinued at the Poly as well. Ivette did offer me a package of instant when I asked about the oatmeal, but I'm not too fond of the sweetened stuff. I made do with apples & peanut butter, bananas and peanut butter, pears and peanut butter...

Well, I guess the concierge levels at WDW are working hard to be more like the Hampton Inn.

No water bottles, no oatmeal. Just seems kind of cheap to me.

For goodness sakes, what could possibly be the cost savings for removing oatmeal? They might have felt like they were throwing too much of it away, but they should have just downsized and have the chef make up a smaller serving. Oh oh, do you think they went over budget on the fancy new coffee machines and now have to find ways to cut back?

Let me know who we're addressing the letters to.

Have a safe and happy trip, Alice! I'll be thinking of you and your DD having a great time!

I went from WL standard/concierge to AKL savannah view all in less than 24 hours. I also added a day at the beginning. Do I have approval of this? NO, but one can't be too prepared for a disney trip! I realized the 19th was value season still, so I am trying to line things up with that. We would have to be out the 26th so DH can go back to work, which works out fine with no AP rates at all. Yes, I had the AP rate for WL for all of the days, including the concierge 24/26 which I made 23-26th with no problem until I couldn't tack on the earlier wl days on the AP rate. (does this make any sense?) and now DS says... the only reason I wanted to go was for concierge..*who's ruling around here?* and he wants to try CS or GF.

back to the drawing boards....I really should get permission, eh?
Debbie

Wait a minute!! Are you telling me you're staying at AKL now?? Arriving on the 19th?? Hooty-Hoo! We can meet (if you want) at Victoria Falls Lounge:bounce: :Pinkbounc You are a bigger AKL fan than even I am...I love it:crazy:

*laughing* I don't know about that! How about if we hold the title together? Where will you be and what dates will you be there? I can just tell that I'll be talking to Disney again. *must get airline tickets asap!* Maybe I'll cook dinner tonight.. a good dinner, to get a yes!

Debbie

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :thewave: ;) Yes - a VERY delicious dinner!
DD(8) and I will be at AKL Dec. 17-22. My brother and his wife are joining us Dec. 17-19;
:wave2:

Angel16 - Maybe I'll try that denial thing. Wonder if my family would notice? ;) You make AKL CL sound very inviting. I'm planning a mom and son trip maybe in Feb. - I have an AP rate, standard savannah view - but maybe CL is the way to go. Hmmm...

Fred - Awesome photo! We had cloudy skies here last night so couldn't enjoy. Thanks - I can't wait to share your pic with my family!

Oatmeal Protesters Unite!

AKL Lovers - Get me excited about this place! Are the rooms really dark? small? not "deluxe"? or are these all misconceptions? Convince me!! ANd will I be happy in a standard savannah room if CL isn't available?

How to convince you.... AKL is like HOME, or what home should be, even though I have no idea where an African theme/smell/aura fits in my small town/victorian/teacher life! The rooms aren't as big as some of the older deluxe hotels, but I think it more than makes up for that with one fantastic view! It is hard to leave the room to go to the parks. REALLY! Both adults, and children, don't want to leave! There are so many activities to do, let alone just sit on your balcony sipping whatever beverage the clock says is allowed. :) If you've been reading, you'll see we're all attached to certain animals there. In most cases, it is the animal that spent the most time outside our balconies. AKL's club level is fantastic! Both great CM's, selections, and the ambience is very inviting to just lounging around. It isn't a rush in and rush out lounge, but a reflect/ponder/read the paper type of lounge.::yes:: My first AKL trip was my mom's first visit to DW and she loved it. My first concierge trip was my mom/son trip and it still makes me smile to think about it! Btw, they act like angels when separated from their siblings!

I need to go home for the holidays! (toss up currently between AKL/WL/s/d and CS DH still says POP, but I keep telling him its not pop unless we sell both kids.
Debbie

Debbie you most definitely do need to go "home for the holidays"!::yes:: And I think everyone here in the Lounge knows where "home" is;)
Anything available on the AKL Concierge Level? princess:

So.......DH walks in the door tonight and says he now DOES have Christmas weekend off.

I immediately called CRO and AKL CL wasn't available (our original reservation was here.)

They had WL CL available at the FL resident rate.

We're going to WDW for Christmas.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I'm a little sad AKL CL wasn't available but I have a feeling Don or Andrea would have called and said the Sunrise Safari we originally had scheduled was now full.

:D :D

I stand corrected. AKL CL IS available for Christmas but just not with the Fl Res rate.

What would you all do? WL CL for $260/night or AKL CL for $680/night.

Should we put AKL CL off until we can get a FL Res Rate?

I already heard back from AKL IPO and they still have Sunrise Safari spots available on Christmas Day.

What to do?????????

whew! glad to see I misread about the 'cordials' and that I can still have my nightcap!

Evening to everyone! Time for that nightcap yet? Been a rough day at the office.
