Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

Deluxe rooms are all on the fifth and sixth floor. They are only CL if you booked CL. They can be one of two views, either savannah view or pool view, depending again on which view you booked. There are different room configurations. If you are a party of five, make sure they know that and ask for the room configuration you'd like.

I starred the room configs that will sleep five. I am getting homesick again! May I sneak into your luggage? Maybe I'll crash Johsonset's bparty! :)

The WL/Poly IPO have some newbies...one is a very sweet gal, Sarah, who is a very quick learner, acoording to Melissa (who is working on our planning!)
And the Poly CL's new manager will be named this week.
Plus, Daisy will be returning to the WL CL. :)
We are looking forward to our return to the WL CL....been many years!

speaking of kids...poooohbear!You were just getting married in August 2001! How many little ones do ya'll already have?::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

BT, I've been working with Daisy and she has been great. Let me tell you, I've been a real pain also. I've mixed up dates on some PS's, etc. and she has pleasantly changed each one plus she is so prompt. I just love her.

Also, we have previous to our marriage children...2 girls (12 & 6). We took them, hubby's mom & my dad on our "Family"moon vacation in August '01 when we got married. It was great...I'll never forget my Dad & his Mom riding BTMRR 6 straight times on E-night. It could have been a commercial!

GoofySuse - They are looking at creating an actual lounge at WL?! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I can't wait! :Pinkbounc I agree with Floridafam, they need to update their rooms and at least have the option of concierge with the deluxe rooms. Hello, anyone out there from WDW management reading this? Hello?
[/QUOTE
VaGal....That's what she said...I'll get more info whilst there next month...such as location, anticipated date of completion etc....the IPOs seem to be responding these days...perhaps those kicks have helped....one can hope?

Hockeymom, my DS is a competitive figure skater and he belongs to a club in town. They own the skating rink and we have the closest thing to a concierge lounge. Every Friday night they host club dinners, complete with a full service bar and working fireplace. It's so nice to be able to watch the kids skate while being warm and comfortable. Congrats to your sons 2nd place finish. That's great.

I just got an e-mail that the girls in IPO at the YC received my gift. I cannot say enough good things about them and I really wanted to show them my appreciation. I made it a group gift and it seemed to fall within their acceptable gift guidelines, so that was good.

I can't believe I've still been able to keep this trip a secret. My DH asked me yesterday when we were going to tell the kids and I said that I'd like to hold off as long as possible. They love surprises and this trip is going to be full of them. DH doesn't even know about most of the things that I have planned.

Time to finish up homework and make some hot chocolate. (Does anyone else have the Cocomotion by Mr. Coffee, it makes the very best hot chocolate in the world!) DS and DD both want to watch the Haunted Mansion tonight too. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Tammi

First off, #1hockeymom if I pull it off...You're invited!:Pinkbounc :bounce: You'd be the only one I wouldn't have to drag kicking and screaming:rolleyes: Of course, my friends WILL all be converted::yes::

Exciting to hear about big changes at WL Concierge. I absolutely fell in love with WL when we stayed there last April (Ctyd. view room). If they step up the Concierge it could be really amazing:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Congrats to Hockeymom's DS's team. Way to Go!!

StorybookMum From all I've read, I think you should give Le Cellier a try. It's a HUGE favorite of many...

Have a good evening Lizards!
:wave2:

storybookmum - DD and I absolutely LOVE Le Cellier, very good food, wonderful service and ambiance!! We haven't eaten at Coral Reef since our first trip, but the kids were enthralled - so you might give that one a try.:wave2:

GoofySuse - Come on, we'll help you move your stuff right in here, no problem!;) Snuggle up in the lounge, with a nice glass of your favorite beverage, who cares what they think!!:teeth:

johnsonet - Eight whole nights at AKL!! Wow! What fun, we really love it there, can't wait for next summer's LL meet!!::yes::

Big room wave all around!!:thewave:

Funeral is over, tears aren't. I do have good news though. We didn't take first, but we took SECOND in the tournament! We totally fell apart during the finals game. Went from scores like 14-0/8-0/7-1/8-1 to LOSING! ACK! It was a great weekend, and great to get out of here. OK, I admit it. There is a bar at this rink (there usually isn't), and I was there OFTEN before our game would start. Can't beat an absolute bloody mary (extra olives!) for a hockey game snack! We played teams from both the Detroit area and the Chicago area. Our boys did extremely well, so well that a few coaches thought they were in the wrong league. Had to show them that not only were they in the right league, but most of them are first year PeeWee!

Ok, that is my happy news.. and I love reading everyone else's news from the world and their travel plans! I am going to try to play catch up at home, then catch up on the boards! Have a great night, everyone! (and thank you SO SO MUCH for being there for me when I needed to rant and carry on. It meant a lot to me to have the thoughts and messages rain down. I do believe in the power of prayer to heal both the soul, and body.

Debbie

Debbie....you are so sweet and thoughtful!!!! all over you and your family!
And, yes, the prayers from this lounge and the sorority sisters are powerful!::yes::

storybookmum...LeCellier has my vote, too! Has something for everyone and they are VERY good at subsituting and accomodating dietary requests.:wave2:

mom_rules...you loved the YC CL, you'll LOVE the BC CL.
Have you seen my pictures? I have 2 sets since we stayed there TWICE this year! Had crab, clams, and lots of goodies, too!
Their CL layout differs from the YC and it is not quite as formal, but my mother fell in love with this place, the rooms and SAB!:lovestruc
Click here for my webshots home page.
There will be one set on the first page and another set, the best one, on the 2nd page.

floridafam...don't be too hard on yourself! I HAD a 14th floor room for the marathon earlier this year and let it go when we booked the Poly Princess Suite!:earseek:
Gosh! I wish we had that room back!:(
STILL no word from the Poly/Guest services on what they're going to do with us!:sad2:

We might be staying at the AKL or BWI in a suite which suits me fine. Still no word on which one we're getting upgraded to.:yo-yo:

Tammi...What a great addition to our lounge! A Cocomotion by Mr. Coffee!!!! (I got to get one of those for my kitchen and store!)

Meanwhile, Cocomotion is ON as well as the AKL Expresso machine, and lots of zebra domes, fruit tarts, bread pudding with whiskey sauce, and mmausse's famous peach Flambe!

:drinking1 :goodvibes

8 days at the AKL CL this summer sounds like a winner to me!

Steffy --they have not given any ideas yet. But something I have had since high school was a "deja vo" thing. That was the only way I could ever explain it. I would smell something or see something even driving down the road or sitting at work and it was like I had seen it in a dream. So I got a feeling of deja vo, then would get sick to my stomach for two or three minutes and lose my train of thought. Now they are thinking I might have been having "mini seizures" all along. I will let eveyone know what I find out.

Debbie --I feel for you. I just found out last night a man that was just like a grandpa to me passed away Saturday. His wife babysat me since I was 3 mo old and my brother & sister as well. She passed away on Xmas eve my senior year of high school. First person I had ever lost that I was close to. He passed away on her birthday Sat-she has been gone for 10 years. Needless to say, I cried all last night and spent most of the day crying at work. I am not ready for the funeral tomorrow but I will get through it. My thoughts are with you too:(

Bistro de Paris
Chefs de France
Coral Reef
Alfredo di Roma
Le Cellier
Nine Dragons (ain't happening)
Akhershus (uh-uh)
Marrakesh (I'd love to, don't think anyone else would be willing)
Rose & Crown (try for Illuminations? But now we're only 37 days out....)
San Angel (never again)
Garden Grill

So, ladies, what's your vote? I'm off to check the menus.....I'd been considering Le Cellier anyway, so we might end up there. Coral Reef beckons, do you think my girls would lose their minds? Anyone have pictures?

Any input welcome!
Kris

Ok, 3 words - Chefs de France. 2 words - Raspberry Cheesecake. 1 word - Heaven. Nirvana. Valhalla. Cloud 9. Also the BEST French Onion Soup and the best Rosemary Chicken. But let me tell you about the cheesecake - I won the VA Blue Ribbon for my cheesecake a few years ago, so I know what I'm talking about. It is decadently delicious. It is better than: getting your picture in the paper (for something good), winning the lottery, heck it's better than sex. :earseek:

Make your PS for lunch and dinner. Make them now. RIGHT NOW!

Mmause, you're hysterical! But honey, you'll kill us! Meredith and I can't have dairy, we're milk protein intolerant, so talking about raspberry cheesecake with all those lavish praises is just cruel and unusual punishment!!! (I might slip past the occasional bit of dairy, but a cheesecake would just about hospitalize me. Is it worth it?)

We picked Le Cellier as our first choice, followed by Les Chefs, then Rose & Crown (just for the view)...then they fell like cards, with poor Coral Reef at the bottom of the list because it's so out of the way for IllumiNations....(wah! Next trip). I sent AKL IPO an email, and we'll see what we get back.

Thanks ladies! Off to 4 wretched day shifts at work - pray for me, dayshift's a killer!

Love,

Kris

Just popping into the lounge to say hi to everyone and especially to Steve and Donna whom I had the pleasure of meeting this past week. We came home last night and I believe they're leaving today. It was such fun to actually meet fellow DISsers!:sunny:

This may be old news as I can't keep up with you busy and fun folk but the Hawaii has a cappuccino machine now! I loved it for perfectly hot water for my tea.:D

All the cast members in Polynesian concierge were great again. A special thanks to Kathy, Tara, Chelsea (I think?) and of course Chef Dick. Earline was our mousekeeper and are room was immaculate. She even remembered that we like our room cleaned early and did so without even a phone call. One morning our oldest son who wasn't staying with us stopped to drop off his bag around 9:30 and the room had already been cleaned!

Hi Donna and Steve!

edited for spelling!

A cap machine has been added to concierge at Polynesian! Woohoo! I'm sure you will have just made my husband and daughter's day! A double espresso to get revved up followed by a frothy sweet nectar to go! Heaven! We will be so jazzed on caffeine, who will need sleep! ;)

Edited to ask: My husband wants me to ask if it's a "good" cap machine or if it's one of those icky ones "you find in all the service station/convenience stores"?

I agree with Tess... This is great news! I'm thinking I read on another thread about someone enjoying their "cap" recently at the GF (or was a dreaming??) Would be a lovely addition to EVERY lounge for sure!!::yes:: :Pinkbounc :cool1:

Make mine a double!! :drinking1 Happy day, fellow Lizards!!!;)

Big Room Wave Lizards,

Prayers and pixie dust to all in need.

Debbie, it's so good to see your smiling face. :wave2:

Elisabeth, hope your ankle is healing. Your boss, what a jerk.::yes::

Mmause, you are so funny. I love cheesecake. And, I agree about the onion soup. I could go for some right now.

BT, good to see you as always.

Tammi, sounds like a great trip. We are planning a Christmas trip next year, can't wait.

Have a great day!

Tess, I'm no cappuccino experty although I did look up the spelling now.;) I only tried a cup of cafe mocha in the lounge. The rest of the time I had my usual hot tea. The cafe mocha wasn't as good as Ghirardelli's which is my favorite nor as strong as Starbuck's. It reminded me of the mocha swirl that I tried this summer at our Dunkin Donut. I've never tried any coffee beverages at service stations so can't compare it to that. It is a stainless steel rectangular machine about a foot wide and maybe two feet tall. You push a button to make your choice. Hope that helps your huband a little.

It was wonderful for hot tea! Perfectly hot.

It's a "service station" type cap machine--on demand brew--along the lines of "instant" coffee. Oh well, I guess it would have been too much to ask for a regular cap machine--the line could get horrendous since it only brews one at a time or "to order" type of coffees.

What flavors did they have in the machine? I see Mocha. . .and I'm not sure how the tea brewing works--is there a separate button for that or are you simply talking "hot water" service? Still, it will be a nice addition to the lounge--fingers crossed it has a "toffee" or "caramel" flavored cap too!

It does not brew the tea. You must still use a teabag but the water is very hot and so the result is much better than usual in the lounge or most restaurants.

Didn't pay tons of attention. I think there were 10 choices. Latte, mocha, hot chocolate, hot water and coffee for sure. I didn't notice carmel which I probably would have as I enjoy a carmel machiatto on occasion.

I'm don't think those expresso units with steamers would be safe for self service, do you?

Not out in the open, heck no--too many people don't pay much attention to their children. Then again, I'm sure some will let their kids play with the coffee machine too. ;)

Since Hawaii also serves espresso--it must have one in the back--you have to ask for it in the a.m. I thought maybe they were making them in the back as they do the espressos. Those coffees are really tail kickers in the morning!

The machine sounds a good bit larger than those in convenience stores--hope the coffee tastes better though! ;)

Thanks for the information! We can't wait to try the new toy.

OK, the BIG question! Did it look like THIS ONE?

Please! Tell me it's true!
And yes! Goofy's Muse..I've heard that they are supposed to getting the Expresso/cap machines for all the CLs!:worship: :worship: :worship:

Just an FYI, the AKL CL offers the flavored syrups, etc to make your favorite latte/cappucino!:drinking1

With that.....we've got the Cappucino machine and the Mr. Coffee Cocmotion going and mmausse's Better than Sex cheesecake out on the sideboards this am.
