Superman renouncing his U.S. citizenship?? Really??
Have we become that politically correct? Is Disney behind this?

I think I'm going to heave.

Disney has nothing to do with Superman. Superman is DC Comics.

I agree, the whole thing is ridiculous.

You certainly may be correct, and I may be confused. For whatever reason I thought Disney acquired Superman with the Marvel acquisition.

It's a storyline in a comic book, it's basically the same as if a sitcom character was killed off. It's fiction, even if it was 'a front to the US and unpatriotic', it's a work of fiction. The author has the right to do whatever he wants to do with the story, and people have the right not to read it.

this is newsworthy? man, they must be bored.
DC Comics is doing a great job getting free publicity with this stunt.

Just wait. DC Comics won't do anything that actually alienates their core U.S. readers. Superman will remain a TRUE AMERICAN in the long run, I'm sure.

But, hey, DC Comics is even getting free publicity on a Disney Rumors and News forum that has nothing to do with Superman.

I completely agree.

I agree with everything you said.
BUT.. It still shows an anti American attitude on the part of the writer and/or whoever is in charge of the story line.
Heck, I like to see pro American stuff, regardless of whether or not it's fiction. It's the thought process behind it, and the message that counts.

Not trying to belittle your opinion, just stating mine..

Yea, I do understand what you are saying, and respect your opinion. Horace was most likely right in saying they will keep that 'all american' appeal. But going by the article I read, I'd be willing to bet the authors response would be something along the lines of wouldn't it be better to be a world hero, instead of just an american hero?

But, even if they did it intentionally for whatever reason, it's still their right. Just as it's both our rights to have an opinion about it.

I really hope you are right, but I'm not holding my breath. I truly believe there are many circles in America today that don't want the U.S. to be the world's superpower. I'm afraid this is one of those fringe groups. Again, I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

Yep. Time Warner is a fringe group that wants to offend the core customers of DC Comics' long-running and highly successful Superman comic books so that sales plummet.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Or maybe not.

My apologies for having a thought and opinion.

I just reread what I posted. I agree that it comes off as snotty and rude. That was not my intention. I was just trying to have fun with this topic.

I'm sorry. Please accept my apology for what I posted. (And please read this apology as a sincere apology, not as a some sort further rudeness.)

Accepted, and thank you.
Over the years you have been THEE most knowledgeable poster I have come across here on DIS. I thoroughly enjoy and respect your comments and knowledge.

I actually find this quite offending. It disgusts me to no end how politically correct this country is. Every empire has its downfall if we are not careful this PC crap will be our downfall if we are not careful.
