Have to transfer ressies to AAA to get dining plan?

I recently found out that in order for us to add the dining plan to our trip, we must transfer to or rebook with AAA. Apparently you can't use the AAA discount on the room if booking directly with Disney and have the DP as well. Has anyone ever done this? Had any problems with this?

We have 3 rooms booked as we are doing a grand gathering

I dont care who we book with I just dont understand why Disney cant just add DP to myw plan for us.

You're correct. You can either use your local AAA office or do a search on these boards. There are a few Disney oriented AAA TA's. You don't have to use your local office. Just check, a few AAA offices add extra fees or cancellation fees over and above what Disney charges. Many don't. ASK BEFORE YOU BOOK.

In order to get the AAA discount on your room and the dining plan, you have to book a package through AAA that includes at least a one day park ticket. The only way to get the AAA discount booking through Disney is to do a room only reservation, which means no meal plan.

I imagine this is due to an agreement between Disney and AAA. If you could get the discounted package directly from Disney, why would people need to go through AAA?
