Have to reiterate my love for Universal

We are going down for a couple of days and want to tack on a quick trip to WDW. (I know, right? Usually the other way around. :lmao: )

I do understand that there are fewer options at Universal, but the choices are so much clearer, early entry is just that, not rotating through parks, I can't believe how many WDW hotels only offer full-sized beds, and then the logistics of resort to park are fraught with issues/delays etc.

I can make a Universal booking in 15 minutes and know exactly what I'm getting, and have it be exactly what I want, at a great price but I've been looking at WDW all day and STILL no closer to a solution. And the prices are INSANE.

ARGH!

I can book a Disney Resort stay in 5 minutes and know exactly what I am getting. When do you hope to travel and for how long ? It doesn't have to be stressful at all. There are some nice discounts right now, no need for your Holiday to cost full price :)

I would be very grateful for some help.

The groups is split thus:

Me, spouse, two small kids.
My mother (could share with us if necessary)
My inlaws (must have own room)

I had been trying to find a room to fit us all, but that's proving just impossible/prohibitive

In Jan 4 2012 out Jan 6 2012

My MIL is not very mobile, so she will be at the room a lot (her preference) so something with a balcony would be good so she isn't cooped up.

Monorail for mobility reasons would be nice, but not a dealbreaker

We're going to AK and MK.

Thanks! So much.

looks like you will need a deluxe room at the motherland if you want to put 5 in the room and have a balcony.

sorry, not much help as it would take me quite a bit of time to try to figure the hotel you would need there.

2 different parties to book rooms for.
could get expensive

the poly might work for you but it's more than what i ususally pay for a room at the motherland.

hopefully, partypa will return to help you with the motherland booking.

Thanks for your thoughts - I have been thinking Poly too. Not the cheapest, but it does fulfill some of the needs, not to mention, the rooms sleep enough to do this with two rooms. And there's a decent-ish rate for Jan/Feb.
:goodvibes

Was at the poly in August.
I dont think we will be returning for the amount of money we paid.

just got back from one night at GF and will NEVER go back--

WAY overpriced and not worth it.

Well - the inlaws are no longer coming, and I'm starting to feel increasingly tempted to just add another night at Royal Pacific and do a quick hit into Disney for a day. So much more expensive, Early Magic hours happen on a rotating sked, and don't work with our sked, refillable mugs can't be used in the parks. Oy. Perhaps I'm missing something, but it's hard to see the value there. If it weren't for the Pirates of the Caribbean love, we could probably skip it altogether!

One day theme park tickets are expensive so you'll have to decide if riding PoTC is worth the money. ;)

if you want to do the motherland for one day, you have options.
you can do car service for the round trip transportation at the cost of appoximately, $80. (+tip)

you can use mears for rt, adults $19, children $15 (+ tip)

You could take a taxi for about $30-5 per way depending on time in the cab.

you could rent a car at RPH and drive to disney and return the rental car the night you return back to rph hotel.
cost of car: ?, disney parking: $14 ??, don't remember the actual cost.

or, stay at rph and do a split stay next year for your POC fix.

if you do the motherland for one day, Tuesdays seem to be fine crowdwise.
