Have to get this off my chest, was I wrong?

I will not stand and wait watching line disappear into next area even if I technically can cover this distance pretty fast.

I agree. If the line got into the next area past the FP merge point -- by all means, you should feel free to go around because at that point, you are in danger (and you can rationally believe) that your boarding the ride will be delayed.

That is not, however, what we've been talking about. We've been talking about a gap that opens up *between* the Mr. Potato Head and the FP merge point. You can plainly see where it begins and where it ends. There is no rational reason why that small of a gap should bother anyone.

and you have to watch this gap as this is actually right before fp area and once people start disappearing you better move as well. this gap is pretty short if I remember correctly and if someone wants to stay behind, go ahead, enjoy your time, behind.

once people start disappearing

If by "people" you mean a group that was just in front of the picture takers, you'll get no argument from me. If by "people" you mean people fifty spots up, then you should really re-evaluate your priorities.

Remember, though, they only let a few people through the standby queue at a time when the FP line is full, as it usually is at the end of the day from all those people using their FPs late

:rolleyes1

(they need a smiley to duck thrown vegetables :cool2:)

obviously I am talking about tail of this group but if I remember correctly this area is not big enough to fit 50 people, at least part you can actually see from the spot right before mr. potato, which is where you will be if you wait for picture takers.

Well, if I remember correctly, it goes along the wall for about twenty feet (look for the hidden mickey!), then cuts into the building about halfway, then back toward the FP merge point. There may even be another double back in there. So, I think you could easily fit 50 people.

that's not at all obvious, as all you have said is that one or two photos is ok, but a photo session is not. I'm not sure if three photos makes a photo session, but the time it takes to take a third photo is not enough to clear out the maze in front of you.

I'm still confused as to why you would draw such arbitrary distinctions when it does not affect the time you will pass the FP merge point.

Yes, but I do not think you can actually see behind the building part from before mr.potato area. I do not remember details, I only was 2 times in stand by line but I remember being surprised when I got to the wall area and then saw more line. Basically again if I remember layout correctly, you have to watch the wall area because this is all you can actually see and it is pretty short.

I already answered why, I do not like to move in stop-run pattern, rushing to catch the tail is not my idea of fun, that is all. That does not mean that I will push picture taker out of the way the moment he decides to take 3rd photo but if it will feel unreasonable I will move, just like I expect others to move around me if I stop and take my time for whatever reason.

oh my goodness...I just don't even know what to say...:rolleyes1

I think I only want to ride this ride on a fast pass.

Yes, I think you were wrong to walk ahead of them. Many of us have been in that long line and it was not going anywhere fast, I would bet. Almost everyone in the line, every time I ride it, stops to take a quick photo with Mr Potato Head. What is the point in rushing by when you will just stop again two feet later. In that situation, I think common courtesy suggests stopping and waiting for at least a reasonable amount of time if the line is not really moving anyway.

I think when it cuts back into the building, it's coming toward where you are standing right before Mr. Potato Head (perpendicular to the wall, of course, not diagonally toward you). There aren't walls, per se, just tinkertoy boxes, etc. In any event, you know at that point that you've been moving about 20 feet in a minute, then stopped for several minutes for the previous 150 minutes, so there should be no reason to believe that magically, that last part of the queue will go any faster. You see a lot of line, still, in front of you at that point.

All I've been saying is that as long as you see that line, just be patient. You aren't going anywhere. You're just cutting.

but if it will feel unreasonable I will move, just like I expect others to move around me if I stop and take my time for whatever reason.

So, if I feel it's unreasonable for you to stop to tie your shoe in line at TSM, b/c you should have taken care of that before you got in line, etc., you would be ok with me cutting in front of you if you stop to do that?

I would hope you agree that's unreasonable. I submit the reason you think that attitude is unreasonable is because your stopping to tie your shoe will not delay me, standing behind you, from getting to the merge point at all.

Contrast that with the stampede to TSM at RD -- if you stop to tie your shoe, I assume you would expect those behind you to find their way around. why? b/c waiting for you to tie your shoe will delay their arrival to where they are going.

You cut in line - rude, very rude. Only if there was no one between the family taking pictures and the loading zone would this have been acceptable.

I do not think you can see much of the final part so if you are not familiar you can also assume the boaring area is right there and so you are better move. As a matter of fact, unless we are taliking about shows like Soarin, boarding few minutes later will not bother me at all but rushing will. I do not think it is cutting, the line just keeps moving, as it suppose to, that is all.

Annoying yes, but unless they were ready to board all the way up the line, it was only a few minutes to stand where you were, or you could stand a few feet down the que. Not worth it and I personally felt equally bad line etiquette. No different really from the people that are just not paying attention. You're not getting anywhere any faster. Just learn to chill. :goodvibes I like the idea of asking though.

unreasonable time, not unreasonable reason.

Well, now we are arguing about facts, for which there is an answer. I am confident you still see people well ahead of you, if through tinker-toy box models, before they disappear past the FP merge point. And if you can see where you will stop after you cut in front of those people, you are indeed cutting.
