DH just got out of the hospital and has to rest for the next several days. (We were supposed to leave for DL tomorrow.)

I called Disney Travel to cancel, and indicated we'd like to try again, but probably for the Oct. timeframe. Does anyone have suggestions for good or bad dates in the late Sept. - November timeframe?

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

So sorry to hear the you have to cancel your trip...

We are having to cancel a 2 week trip/cruise to Hawaii as my dad just had a stroke. I feel so sorry for you..

We have found that the beginning of November can be a great time to go. Before veterans day..

The weather is still good and I don't know if rides wouild be closed down for Christmas decorating..

Thank you. I'm sorry you have to cancel your vacation plans, too. (We love Hawaii as well!) I hope your dad will fully recover.

 to both of you. I hope your dh, Alex2Mommy, & your father, Rapunsel, both do well.

Alex2kMommy -- I recommend October, but better yet, November because the holiday decorations will be up, and the Haunted Mansion & It's a Small World would have had their makeovers.

OOOHH NOOO! Being sick ...STINKS.(to be polite). Wishing a RAPID recovery.Time wise,I don't know,i just don't know.BUT do you're self a BIG favor ,HAVE A REAL GOOD TIME!(please).

Major bummer. If you do not know about it, check out http://www.riderefurbs.com/. As mentioned by others, IASW will go down probably in October for holiday overlay, although it is not listed yet. And HM is down in Sept as usual. Also, CA Screamin is going down. We like CA Screamin, and in your shoes would try to squeeze in before Sept 11 for at least a few days of the trip.

If CA Screamin is not your cup of tea, then think about late Sept/early Oct before IASW goes down and after HM re-opens, or in mid-Nov when IASW reopens. If memory serves, last autumn IASW was down about Oct 10-Nov 10. We saw the holiday version in late Nov.

I'm soooo sorry about your trip! I know how disappointing this can be, expecially when you were really looking forward to your first trip there. However, health comes first and I'm wishing your DH a very speedy recovery. How long would it be before your DH can travel again? If you can swing sometime in May (if that's at all possible) I heard that it may not be too bad (before the summer rush). My fondest regards to your family.

Huge bummer :( I hope your dh is resting and recovers quickly. I recommend October. The weather is wonderful and the park is not busy at all.
This will just give you more time to plan :)
We're leaving Wednesday. Would you like me to send a postcard to your dh or child?

We were there the week of Veteran's Day last year. Arrived on Tuesday, were able to walk on all the rides that day, and the two days after. Veteran's Day was another story, a madhouse, but...IASW opened that day w/ the holiday decorations, so worth it...Haunted Mansion was open and decorated the whole week. DH and I decided that is the perfect time to go, now we're spoilt.

Sorry to hear both of you have to cancel trips! Wishing everyone a speedy recovery.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words. :goodvibes
We are still discussing when to reschedule our trip. Thank you, HydroGuy, for the ride refurb info, DH was very interested in that. And all of your input on the weather and crowds is good! We'd love to see the 50th celebration, and go when it is less busy but still sunny and warm enough to swim at the DLH pool. And preferably no rain!!!

To those of you going this week: I hope you have a great time! I'll look forward to any trip reports you write.

And to all of you who have posted so much helpful information, I thank you. Because of it, I am probably the best Disney-educated person who has never been there. :rotfl: Yet...but my turn's coming!

You're trip will be so much more special because of the wait. We had to cancel once for medical reasons, when we resceduled we went all out on everything, including Fantasmic balcony seats. I hope your DH recovers quickly and you have the trip of your dreams this fall.

Oh fudge! I am so sorry you had to cancel, I know how excited you have been planning this trip. I hope you DH gets better really soon...

I think any of those dates would be pretty slow, avoiding Veterans Day weekend and Thanksgiving Week. Since you will most likely miss the 50th unless they extend it I think going for the Christmas displays is a good choice. I went once the week between Veterans Day and Thanksgiving week and it was very quiet. We had the unlimited AAA fastpasses but did not need them. And all the Christmas stuff was up, so it was very fun.

Again, so sorry to hear you have had to rearrange everything. I loved following along with you planning! But at least you are just rescheduling and not cancelling completely. Get out all the Disney movies and have a Disney weekend anyways. :goodvibes

As the queen of cancelled trips, I understand. Somehow the rescheduled trips always turn out the best.

I sent you a pm.
