we tried tracfone, on advice of the board, but used up all minutes due to HITTING the browser button. REally do not want kids on internet with phone in any case. any ideas and thanks....

need plan for text only and the phone itself.

Have you looked into adding and extra line to your family plan? We added a line for $9.99 a month (though it's more like $14 by the time the taxes and fees get added onto it) for our teenager and we got her a slider phone that does talk/text only. She has no data plan, but she shares our minutes and gets unlimited texts. Each month she uses about 30 minutes of call time, mostly to call us, and she averages somewhere between 8000-9000 texts.

We have a family plan on Verizon with unlimited texts. We called Verizon and locked use of the internet. Since we only have basic phones with a slide out keyboard, this eliminates the accidental internet usage that you can get even on the basic phones.
