Have they or are are they moving to magic bands?

I certainly hope not, I hate wearing watches so the band wouldn't do it for me. If they go that route hopefully they will keep the card option as well. Our kids already complain all week about the bands for the kids club. If they move to bands my DW would have to listed to me complain all week as well. :earboy2:
The old Mickey bands were terrible. A hospital bracelet with a block on it. My son never complained, but it never looked comfortable to me. I think the Magic Band is much better for the kids. I haven't been to WDW since the Magic Bands came in, so I can't yet say whether or not I'd like wearing one.

I am an annual pass holder (and in my mid 40's) and love the bands. So much easier than keeping up with a card. Sometimes I wear something that does not have pockets and I prefer not to wear a lanyard. I vote for bands!

Even at WDW you have the option of using a card instead of a band, if you want to. I don't know how many people do, but it's definitely still possible. So for anyone who doesn't like MagicBands or the idea of them, I'm sure when they come to DCL you'll still have the option of using a card, instead.

Exactly. You have the option of both - it's not been an either/or.

Personally I like the bands now that they have all of the different styles. I also like that they can be reused for another trip - which admittedly is still in the works - I think I currently have 5 or 6 magic bands around the house here and I haven't purchased one in the stores yet (but make no mistake, Tink will be mine! And maybe the Haunted Mansion one too). (The waste of having to get a new band each time bothers me so I am looking forward to when we can re-use easily.)

I haven't worn a watch in years - seriously, well over a decade - so I fully understand the not liking the feeling of something on your wrist. I tend to wear my Magic Bands loose - not snug against the skin.

The new ones are definitely better, but the kids still complained about them. Had to have them adjusted on the first couple visits to the club, but after that they seemed resigned to the fact they had to wear them all week long. Of course at the end of the cruise when it was time to take them off they wanted to keep them - go figure.

I don't get the need for the bands on the ship. It would make more sense to leverage their mobile app (which is great by the way) and guest wifi access and use that for onboard payments and reservations.

I'd hate having to carry my phone around the ship all the time, though. I only bring it to take pictures once or twice, otherwise my goal is to be carrying nothing around the ship. :)

Not only this, but not everyone in the world has smart phones. So just the same as I don't see them doing away with the Wave phones unless they've struck a deal with a phone provider to provide smart phones for every cruiser (I don't even want to think about the deposit on that...I'm sure we'd all be paying it), I don't see them making access to cabin and account only on smart phones.

That may be, but they are sure pushing people in this direction with the cruise app. I had never carried my phone on cruises either, but I almost always had it with me on the Magic a few weeks back. The chat feature and all the info in the app made it almost imperative to have it with me. Not to mention the 500 pictures I took from the phone along the way. ;) I'd much rather have additional features added to the phone app which I am using and carrying with me already than have to have a band strapped around my wrist all week. Hopefully in time there will be all these various options available and you will be able to choose which you want to use.

It would obviously have to be optional way of doing things - hopefully just like the magic band would be when/if they implement those. When I started cruising as a kid we had physical keys for the cabins - hard to believe now.
