Have the service centres re-opened along the 401?

I am just wondering for anyone who has recently been down the 401 to and from Windsor can you please tell me if the service centre's have re-opened? I knew that they were all being renovated and last year I saw that the last one before Windsor was torn down. I also remember from last year that one of them was open going West on the 401 and one of them was open going East on the 401. So has there been any progress made?

Hey there - I live in Windsor and can tell you that as of the last time I was on the 401 (roughly mid-May), none of the stations are fully open and running between Windsor and London yet. At least one on each side of the 401 is open with restrooms and snack machines though - IIRC it is the Tilbury stations, but I may be mistaken on the one going from Windsor to London.

They also say that they have posted more directions to off-highway stops for gas, food & hotels, but I didn't notice much last trip.

as of last weekend.. nope they are still closed.. after london

except goin to TO. there is one open for gas only..

Oh well at least I know there is still that one location which is opened and it's located just after we got on the 401 after we get off the 407. So we will fill up over there and should be ok until we arrive at Windsor and will fill up there before driving into the United States.

We just drove from Ottawa to Tor and noticed the same thing, it was a real challenge with two children in the car. Not fun and there was not much direction to other services off the highway sp we were really just on our own to fend for ourseleves.

If you can make it, wait until you get across the border to fill up - you'll save quite a bit filling up in the states (right now if you fill up in Detroit is is $2.60/gallon, but if you fill up in Windsor after you convert to US$ and gallons you are paying the equivalent of $3.87 per gallon - there's a reason a lot of us in Windsor find it worth the tunnel/bridge fare to go to Detroit to fill up!).
