I was checking out the deluxe resorts and I could swear all of the prices are way up, unless its just the time of year I'm checking which is mid-June. I know I've been to the Poly before and was thinking I paid around 300 a night, now its almost 500? Is this just a time of the year thing?

Yes, prices increase slightly every year so it depends on when you were last there. My aunt likes to tell me how they paid $79 for a room at the Poly when they stayed there, of course that was in the 70's, lol. It also depends on what time of year you go. I believe mid June is considered high season. We go the 1st week in September and it's considered value season. We're paying $422/night and $452 for Friday and Saturday night. When we went the same week last year, I believe it was $405/night and $442 for Friday and Saturday night.

Yup, prices are way up.... discounts small...

We used to be deluxe all the way people until 3 trips ago..... Can't stomach paying the exorbitant prices any more plus we want to stay longer...

We dropped down to moderates, and with POFQ getting queen beds, found our second home... pretty soon Disney is going to put price themselves in our book, we will no stay value so for the last 3 trips and up coming one in October, POFQ is working for us...

You also probably got a discount when you went before, and there are no discounts out for June at this point.

I agree-the prices seem up much higher than even one year ago! Last year, we did get a 30% off for May/June, but paid much less than we would this year for the same rooms and dates, even if they release a 30% discount. I'm sure they will release a discount at some point, but it might have restrictions and/or the resort you want might be booked by then. I agree with the others on here...the prices at deluxe resorts are getting so high. Looks like we might be exploring a moderate as an option, or a shorter trip, or a California Disneyland trip instead. $600 a night for a room only is just too much...:(

Good luck to you. I also think you could consider the Swan and Dolphin resorts, which are walking proximity to Epcot and HS but not Disney deluxe prices. I've never stayed there, but they seem ok.

Yes, the prices are up, especially for peak times like June.

Yes, the prices have gone way up. It is frightening how much it has gone up in the last few years!! Discounts are fewer and less generous than in the past, as well.

Sorry dont mean to jump in and steal your post but I have a question. Say if we buy our resort reservation now for May and prices increase for the resorts before we go. When a discount comes out will the discount be applied to the price we already had or will they go with the increased price and add the discount to that ?

Mousesavers has charts for 2013 and 2014:

http://www.mousesavers.com/2013-walt-disney-world-resort-room-rates-season-dates/ 2013 DOES NOT INCLUDE TAX

http://www.mousesavers.com/2014-disney-world-resort-room-rates-season-dates/ 2014 INCLUDES TAX

Poly lowest price was $533 incl tax for mid June in 2013 and $543 in 2014.

As long as the hotels remain full, Disney will keep pushing prices up until we go offsite, take a cruise, or visit Europe instead.

All of which I do. I do own DVC but if I can't use my points I don't rent a hotel room from Disney. Price is so out of line with quality.

For an upcoming weekend BC was over$300 a night. A '"moderate" was right at $200. Dolphin was $ 169. Since this is Food and Wine guess who got the $$$$

To the new price

I think they raise the rates so that when they offer a discount you feel like you are getting a deal. So if it's $543 with 30% off, it's $380. Wow, what a deal! Reality is $380 is closer to what it should be (actually still high). I'm so thankful for DVC, don't have to deal with the discount game.

So, the rate I've booked for Jan 31, 2014 (at Wilderness Lodge,) is a low as it's going to get? DH and I are staying there one night before our cruise. We haven't been to WDW since January 2005, and, at THAT time, the discounts were great. I remember during fall, they'd announce 'limited time only,' and reduce the rates. Do they not offer that anymore?:confused3

There are no general public discounts for January yet. Most likey one will be released at some time. I don't think that staying one night you would be eligible for Stay Play & Dine, and you definitely wouldn't be eligible for free dining, so keep an eye out for a room discount. If one is released, they won't apply it automatically to your existing reservation, you'd have to call and ask for it to be applied.

Can pretty much say that there is no way you're going to get a discount at any level close to what was offered in 2005 though.

Yes. They are higher. I can remember in 2009 when they were releasing deals for a family of four with free dining (full not quick service) for 1200.00! We went that year, ate like kings and the whole trip was a blast....

This year my friend won't even go bec of the price. I went on a solo stay in the spring and I don't know as I dare spending now to take my kids along for a fall trip. We're leaning toward an all inclusive and no kids!

We can go on a cheaper vacation family of four to Florida and not stay or play at disney....

Oh, I realize I'm not going to get a 2005 rate. Anything UNDER $300.00 at a deluxe resort is for what we're searching. We have left-over park-hoppers that we're going to use. I used to work for various airlines and already know it's the passengers/guest responsibility to call back and check for a lower rate.

have you seen the prices for GC? $600 is the neighborhood it lives in.
