We are looking to go to Disney.

I have no clue how to begin.. how many points would I need? Where would I be able to stay?

Thanks for any help :)

rental requests are only allowed on the rent/trade board. you can also contact DIS sponsor dvcrequest.com to broker a reservation.

a 3BR unit is also called a "grand villa." requesting rooms that are near each other cannot be guaranteed - you might wind up in different buildings.

there are point charts linked in the top right-hand corner of the screen. you can use those to figure how many pts are required for your reservation - depending on which resort you are considering.

here is a good thread for starting to learn about DVC rentals:

The above post gave you most of the pertinent information. Be aware that getting a 3 bedroom villa is difficult even 11 months out from your dates (the earliest they can be booked), and since we are not less than 7 months out, it will be next to impossible unless you can find someone who has one alreayd booked and can't use it so the intend to rent it out.

You wont really know unless you try though, so call Dave and he can at least check on what's available for your dates. Then if there isn't anything, you'll know up front, and you can start planning for other accommodations.

Thank you both for your replies! Maybe staying offsite will be better, but I appreciate the information. I'll look into what you suggested :)

I think a 2 BR villa could work well for you. You & DH could sleep in the Master BR, DS could sleep in your room or on the pullout sofa in the living room and your parents could sleep in the 2nd BR. We stayed in a 2 BR with my in-laws and it worked out great! We even had 2 friends stay for 2 nights in a 1 BR with us this last trip and it still worked out well.

Yes, I think a 2 bedroom would be fine for only 6 of you. Not sure why you would need a grand villa for just six people. I understand if you are very choosy about your accomodations, in that case you may prefer to sleep off site. But getting a 2 bedroom now would probably be fine and you probably have a good chance at OKW, SSR or even Kidani. I would weigh the options of onsite vs.offsite and I would definitely not hesitate to rent DVC points if you wish to do this.

Good luck,
