My return flight is 2pm on a Friday- what time should I be leaving BWV?

That depends on who you rent from. If its from one of the on-airport agencies, you can cut it a bit closer than if you have to drop off the car at an off-airport agency.

The car is from Alamo; I drive to the terminal and drop-off. I am flying on jetblue.

I'd try to time it so you're at the airport an hour and a half before your flight time. Assuming that you're returning the car to the garage at the airport and you're filling the gas tank on the way, I'd say 30 to 45 minutes from BoardWalk to MCO would give you enough time.

If you want to take it easy and not spoil the vacation feeling, leave at noon. You'll have enough time to drop a car and get through Security, no latter how busy it is. There are variables -- crowds at the airport, where you rented your car -- but two hours should always give you enough time.

Thanks for the advice! Now I can start planning!

I would leave 2 to 2 1/2 hrs prior to your flight if you have to stop and get gas and return the car. On this past Wednesday for our 12:30PM flight the line to pass thru security in terminal A was all the way out to the moving sidewalk. It took 1 hr to pass thru security. We flew on Continental.

Be sure to use Resort Check-in so you don't have to worry about a line at the JetBlue counter. We have spent in excess of 2 hours getting through check-in of baggage and security. It doesn't happen often, but even once is enough to miss a flight.

I would leave around 12:00p -12:15p at the latest. It only takes half an hour max to get there and only a few minutes to drop off the car and I'd also do curbside check in, which only takes a few minutes.

Have fun!

I've never done curbside check-in. Tell me more...

Jetblue (and many other airlines) have curbside check-in. What we do is DH drops us off with our luggage in front of the Jetblue curbside check-in desk and he stays for a second with his license out and we hand our luggage and licenses to the skycap at the Jetblue checkin in desk (outside). Once they've looked at his license, DH goes and returns the car. Meanwhile the skycap puts labels on our luggage and gives us our boarding passes and tells us which gate to go to. Then we tip him at $1. - $2 per bag. That's it. Then we go inside and meet our DH right before the security check.

Sometimes, if the curbside check-in line has about 5 people, DH will drop us off with the luggage and then return the rental and we just wait for him out there until he returns so we can check in together.

Other times, we all return the rental together and then go to curbside check in but that is rare.

Curbside Check-in rarely has a long line and it's convenient. It's located right outside the airline's inside check-in desk. You can't miss it. Just follow the signs to Jetblue and you will see it.

Thanks for the info. We are very excited to try jetblue. I printed up the confirmation (with the barcode); is that really all I need to bring with me to the airport? Do they have on-line check-in?

Since you are leaving a Disney-owned resort to fly home on JetBlue, you can use the Resort Airline Counter at your hotel to check your luggage and check in for your flight even though you are not using Magical Express to get back to the airport. Counter opens at 5:30 AM, you need to check in at least three hours in advance of your flight, all members of your party must be there - it's just like checking in at the airport, except ideally the line's shorter. Your luggage will be transported from that counter to the airport, then onto the plane and to your home airport, without you having to touch it. You'll be given your boarding passes; once you return the car, you enter the terminal, take the escalator up to Departures, and head directly to the Security lines. Simple.

I didn't think you could send your luggage on DME 'alone'. :confused3

Resort Check In is separate from DME. It is true that you cannot put your luggage on the DME bus on arrival at the airport and then just take a rental car to your hotel. Resort Check In DOES allow your luggage to go to the airport without you. You can only use this wonderful service if you are at a Disney hotel, on a participating airline and only during the hours of 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can only check in 12 hours to 3 hours before departure. Since you are at BWV and you are flying JetBlue, you can check your luggage at BWV from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. You will be given your boarding passes. You return your car and go through security, bypassing any need to check bags or get boarding passes at the airport. You will love this service!

Thanks for the info! Do I need to request the luggage tags prior to check-out, or just show up at the desk with my luggage?

Just show up! Remember, it must be at least 3 hours before departure--so by 11:00 a.m. at the latest. Have a great trip!
