Hey All

We leave for the Poly in a couple of weeks and I was wondering. This is our first trip in 7 yrs, not by choice, what are the new things that are must see. Mission Space I will not attempt, looks like a hurlivator to me.

Fast pass was not in effect the last time we were there and the Animal Kingdom was not yet open.

What else

Thanks Dave

There is many things that are new since you last went. I would suggest that you go to the theme park section at wdwinfo.com and look at all the rides. For instance on top of my head MK, buzz lightyear, stitch, aladin are new.

Wow, let's see...

The whole Animal Kingdom park.

Lots of new stores and shops at Downtown Disney (used to be called Disney Village Marketplace).

Mickey's Philharmagic, Magic Carpets of Alladin, Pooh's Adventure, Wishes fireworks, Share a Dream Come True parade, Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger Spin, Stitches Great Escape in Magic Kingdom. Don't miss Wishes!

Mission Space, Test Track, Illuminations, the Epcot sign above Spaceship Earth, Leave a Legacy (right at the park entrance), Mouse Gear (used to be the Centorum), plenty of different stuff in Innoventions at Epcot.

Tower of Terror, Rock and Roller Coaster, Fantasmic, Who Wants to be a Millionaire-Play it!, and the BAH (Big A** Hat) at MGM.

At least 7 or 8 new resorts, all of which have new restaurants to try.

Also be prepared for sticker shock. Prices of souveniers, food, and drinks have gone up horrendously at WDW in the last 7 years. You may be shocked to pay $2.50 for a 20-ounce Coke and $2 for a 20-ounce bottle of Dasani water. Buffet restaurants now average $21-$23 per person, and sit-down places will run you around $20 depending on what you order. Counter service meals these days average about $7-$10 (for a burger, fries, coke).

This excellent timeline on DisneyPix.com has more info than I can remember off the top of my head:

your post reminded me of something I witnessed on my last visit. We were there for the "soft opening" of mission space, and nobody really knew what to expect. They did a good job of telling people that if you are sensitive to motion sickness, you might want to skip the ride, but a few apparently didn't listen. My ds8 (at the time), and I went while my DW and DD4 stayed behind.

It was an exhilarating ride, but my most vivid memory was when they opened the doors, and I stepped out to watching somebody hurl. Not a pretty site.

Buzz is definitely a can't miss, as it's good fun for both kids and adults.

One peice of advice about FastPass. We about killed ourselves using FP the 1st day. You have to map out what you are going to do, or you will spend the entire day going back and forth across the entire park all day long. Planning is the key.

Lastly, I agree with WillCad about the food prices. I remember spending close to $40 for our 1st breakfast at ASMu food court. Needless to say, we started doing other things for breakfast after that. :D
