Have Minnie Vans replaced Uber/Lyft?

Sorry if this is answered somewhere and I've missed it- this will be our first trip since Minnie Vans were introduced and while we mostly use Disney transportation, we do (did?) sometimes use Uber or Lyft. Are Uber/Lyft drivers still allowed to drop off/pick up at the parks and resorts? The prices I'm seeing for Minnie Vans ($20 per ride? $25 per ride?) are a lot higher than what I had paid for U/L in the past (almost never paid more than $10).

If you are going offsite (except the airport), you'll need Uber or Lyft. Minnie Vans don't go offsite. And they cost $25 except for a higher fee to the airport.

You’ll find Uber and Lyft cars all over WDW property. They can go everywhere. The only difference between Minnie Vans and Uber/Lyft is the drop off/pick up points at the parks. The most material being MK - Minnie Vans can drop off and pick up at the MK bus stop (#11 to be exact) while Uber/Lyft have to be at the TTC. But all other parks have Uber/Lyft/taxi pick-up/drop-off points near the front of each park.

Getting dropped off at the MK bus depot is a huge advantage over the TTC. Not needing car seats, I think we would not otherwise use them. Thanks for the tip!

Just to clarify, the original pilot hotels started at $20 but the price is now $25 for a Minnie Van with seating for 6 with 2 child seats available.

The Minnie Vans work with the Lyft app due to a partnership with Lyft. The drivers of the Minnie Vans are Disney cast members and they can receive individual tips directly via the Lyft app.

Note: Minnie Van vehicles can accommodate Guests with standard wheelchairs, motorized vehicles and electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs); however, an additional wait time may occur do to less vehicles with this capability.

You definitely can still use Uber and Lyft. We rely on rideshare for resort to resort transportation (we tried the Minnie Van once, though!). Minnie Van is just another transportation option that has been added. It is appealing to families who need car seats. Also it can go places other taxis/Uber/Lyft cannot, such as right to Magic Kingdom (bus stop 11). You can even take Minnie Van directly to MCO, although the $150 price seems steep to me.

To be clear, for those that would need this vehicle, there are only 2 (for now) that can accommodate ECV or wheelchairs and you must call for them via phone, not on the app. The app can only request the Travese Vehicle. The Bell Services CM can give you a business card to use to call for the ECV van.

In addition to MK directly, they can go to CSR buildings and to Pioneer Hall at FW. I think that's about the only places Uber/Lyft can't go that Minnie Vans can. If you need to go to those locations, Minnie Vans are for sure a better choice.

Also, if you are a group that needs a car seat, I've done price comparisons and in most cases, Minnie Vans are within $2, $3 of Uber with Car Seat, and in some cases even less. Lyft is not an option at all if you need a car seat.

But yeah, that price to MCO is crazy. I can't fathom who would pay $150 to MCO. It's almost triple the price of regular Uber or Lyft, and even needing a car seat with Uber wouldn't come close to $150.

Would the Minnie vans fit 4 adults with 4 suitcases and carry ons?
Tough one. Due to the car seats. The Minnie Vans are Chevy Traverse with bucket seats in both front and middle positions. and 2 car seats stored in the back. The car seats will mean there is no room for the suitcases in the back. So the luggage will have to go in the 3rd row, as would 1 adult. I'm not sure that would work.

We used Uber from Poly to AOA 3 weeks ago. It was $12.10 plus tip. It was 2 adults, so no need for car seats.

Thanks - it seems that Uber is still much cheaper, so not needing carseats or wheelchair transport makes me think Minnie Vans are not for us.
Fun to try once, at least that’s what we decided. Now that we’ve done that, we are sticking with regular Lyft/Uber for our transportation needs... and maybe we will give it another try in September when we travel with family!

Yes they can still take passengers to the resorts and parks. Yes they are still cheaper than a Minnie Van.

The Minnie Van was fun. Once. We took Lyft everywhere else during our January stay and plan to do the same in October. I don't want to pay $20 for a ride that I can take for $7. Minnie Vans will never replace Lyft for us.

We used Uber last week from CR to ASSp. It was around 10 or 10:30 pm, the buses were still running from MK but we were so full from our meal just didn't feel like walking over there. It was $20 for the trip, I'm guessing that was late night pricing since we had used it at Christmas from GF to CSR and it was around $15 that night.
