Last year we took our DD, who was 6 years old then, to WDW for the first time. We stayed at the Poly and absolutely loved it!!!! The grounds were beautiful, all of the CM's were wonderful, loved the monorail (should I say more), we loved the Volcano Pool (our daughter could swim and slide and we could relax by the pool and just enjoy watching her have a ball, and the beach....watching Wishes at night and the castle was unbelievable!!! This year we have chosen the Wilderness Lodge in May. I have heard amazing things about the WL, but I keep second-guessing myself about not staying at the Poly again. We chose the WL because we haven't stayed there yet and because it is a deluxe, but not as expensive as the other deluxes. I want some opinions from all of you guys. We haven't been to WDW as many times as alot of you have and I was just wondering what your thoughts would be if you were in my position!?! :confused3

well i love the WL
I stayed there in Sept 2004
it was great
room was nice, great CM's, good food, we really liked it and we loved the boat to MK

We too love the Poly, but cannot afford to stay again. We have stayed at the WL and loved it just as much. IT is a different atmosphere and you feel like you are at a Rocky MOuntain lodge. The pool was great and the gyser is fun to watch. It too has a beach and there is even a path to fort Wilderness.
The lobby is absolutly beautiful. I think you will like it very much.
OH, we requested a bunk bed room and the kids thought it was cool.

Dont second guess yourself. Go and enjoy it is a wonderful resort.

You Won't Be Disappointed. I Have Two Dd's Age 6 And 11. They Love The Lodge. We Will Be Staying There Again This June. Our 4th Stay. It Gets Better Each Time. When You Walk Into The Lobby You Will Be Totally Amazed. My Girls Love The Pool And The Slide. They Love To Watch The Geyser Go Off. The Staff There Is Great. I Hope You Have A Great Time.

we've stayed at both the Poly and the WL--you'll have a great time--the theming is just as great at the WL as at the Poly.

We love the Poly, and liked the WL, and I am glad that we did both. We are trying to eventually stay at all of the Disney resorts. The lobby and the pool at the WL are great, and make sure to eat breakfast at Whispering Canyon. The rooms are quite a bit smaller than those at the Poly, and feel even more so since the furniture is all pretty big.

IMHO.... there is NO such thing as a bad Disney choice!!

Go and have a great time...this experience will not be as magical in some ways as the first time...because everything won't be new....but this trip will have its own magic....and instead of loving the awe and suprise in your little one you will get to watch her thrill and anticipation at returning to her favorite things.

The WL has its own brand of magic....you will love it and so will she...the pool area is great and there is so much to explore in the lobby and around the resort she will be delighted.

Have stayed at both and enjoyed them a lot. I don't think the Poly is worth the extra bucks (but would stay there again for the right rate) :earsboy:

The theme at WL is just as detailed and exciting as at Poly. you will love it, and so will the kids. as SB in KY said..... There are no BAD Disney choices!!

We stayed at the Poly for our first trip. We loved everything about it. But we have not stayed there since. we are trying other resorts. Do not try to compare it to the poly.(easier said than done, I know). Each resort has their own magic. find it and don't look back.

Thanks everyone for making me feel better about my choice!! A special Thanks to SB in KY for, not just the resort choice, but also for the vacation as a whole!! You hit my worries right on the head!! I was worried that this trip wasn't going to be as magical as the first, but now that I've read your post, I am more excited than ever about returning with our DD to WDW. I can't wait to see her on her first ride this year on the monorail!! She just loved it last year. Maybe we can get a chance for her to sit upfront!!!! Thanks again to everyone!!!! :flower:
