Have ever received something extra you did not order in your delivery?

What was it?

Today my disney store order came with my tween boys star wars figures and backpacks and there it was the cutest little minnie mouse shoes in size 12-18 months.
I emailed Disney they said thanks for being honest and please donate them. They are so adorable I wish I had a 1 year old to put them on.View attachment 554151

Yeah, it happens sometimes. It's not worth the cost for the store to have you send it back and restock it, etc. so they usually just write it off. Amazon has sent me something twice even though I only ordered once - they said just keep the second copy.

I've been sent items I didn't order. Legally one isn't obligated to return anything that wasn't specifically ordered, although it can be an issue dealing with it. I remember an old public service commercial about receiving unrequested items where there was no legal obligation to return them. For some reason I remember an Eskimo receiving a fan that wasn't ordered, and he said "Thanks."

I've have freebies thrown in with an order before. Once I couldn't find something in store, but was available online for shipping to my home or to a store for free. The item cost about $1. When I picked it up, it came with a few promotional items that I believe cost more than the item.

Legally if one didn't order it, there's no obligation to return it. However, companies like Amazon would prefer not to go through returns and will now allow people to keep items for a credit instead of a direct return.

Waaaay back in the Stone Age when Amazon was still primarily a bookseller, I ordered a hardcover book. They sent me the softcover version, apologizing that they had run out of hardcover copies unexpectedly (they only charged me the softcover price, naturally.) Weeks later I got a package from them, and inside was the hardcover, with a note to either keep it or donate it to my local library.

Once when Starbucks had an online store I ordered the Pumpkin Spice sauce and I go 3 pounds of coffee too. This year I order a couple of small little gifts and got the order 3 times. Billed once.

Around Christmas time, my DH ordered two bottles of my favorite Guerlain perfumes directly from Guerlain; obviously quite expensive.
When the shipment came, there were two identical boxes. Both boxes contained the two bottles. Fearing that we would be charged twice, I contacted Guerlain and asked them how to return the second box. After a couple of weeks, they told me to just keep the extra shipment and I was not charged for it. So I have enough perfume for a long time.

My wife bought some PJs from VS once and after maybe a month they hadn't arrived and they couldn't find any delivery information (sent USPS). So I called on her behalf and they sent a replacement that arrived in a few days. Then the original package showed up. I called again and they said to just keep it. I understand that normal returns are shredded anyways.

Watch out for this scam;
https://katu.com/news/local/bbb-bend-based-company-bills-for-diet-pills-people-didnt-orderIt happened to me. I got 3 bottles of "Keto Supplement". I didn't order them, so I called the number on the "invoice". The lady who picked up the phone sounded like she was talking to me from her living room and would only ask for my personal info - wouldn't answer any questions I had about how she got my info. It had my name on it and, I found out later, did charge my credit card $20/bottle. I hung up on her, threw the bottles away and disputed the charge.

We have been doing curbside pick up through Walmart grocery since the pandemic began. Almost every time there is something in one of the bags that we didn’t order - a carton of eggs (I buy eggs from a local farmer so never purchase them at a store), a packet of mushroom gravy mix, a roll of packing tape, a bottle of Riunite wine, it’s always something I would never order. The first few times I always called the store to let them know, and they said not to return it, so now I don’t worry about it.

This fall I order a mechanical pencil from a big box business store. The pencil arrived in a mailing envelope like expected but also left on the porch that same day was an entire box of copy paper. No label or any kind of address on the box. We have no idea why UPS would leave it or where it came from. there was no connection to the pencil. We now have a lifetime supply of printer paper.

Either Chewy or Petco (I don't remember) sent me an extra order of cat food. (Mine came, but so did another box, of a different kind.) I did call, since I was pretty sure someone else would be expecting it, but they said I could just donate it to a shelter.

I ordered something from Walmart and they included a canvas painting of the eiffel tower. They told me to keep it, but no one here wanted it so I donated it.

I got a little girl's swimsuit from Kohls and a set of really ugly peach curtains from JC Penney. Swimsuit went to a coworker's daughter and I returned the curtains to JC Penney when I went in to pick up another order.
