I am perhaps the only one that was asleep at the wheel regarding this one, in fact in wouldn't surprise me but last week I had one of them uh oh moments! You see I too have an AP but still wanted the free dining for our trip so I had my travel agent switch my ressie round after I found out I'd only need a Base Ticket. Then me and my BF went on our trip, had the most wonderful if hot time and used our AP's to enter all the parks.

Never used our Base Tickets. Didn't have too, and just found out they are still good for our trip in a year or two :flower: :Pinkbounc :flower: !!

I never really looked into the Magic Your Way ticket plan before so I didn't know, and just thought I should post since perhaps there is someone out there as slow on the uptake as I am!

But if there isn't a one, then please be kind

A lot of folks did exactly what you are saying. The only thing is you still have to pay rackrate for your hotel and buy the base ticket for each person in the room. Paying rackrate at a deluxe resort plus base tickets along with worrying what is on the plan and what isn't just wasn't worth it to me.

This is what we did, too, but we did have a problem.

I went to guest services at Epcot, just prior to leaving for the airport, to have our room cards checked to make sure that the passes were on there. They were NOT, and this lead to about 30 minutes of confusion, only cleared up because of a very nice cast member at Epcot took a lot of time and made a lot of phone calls. We finally got issued new one day passes (not on the room card). We ended up not being able to ride the last thing we had planned (Spaceship Earth) but did make it to the airport on time.

The cast member did say that if we had not discovered the problem then, that it probably would not have been resolved in my favor on our next trip.

Are you serious?!! Disney44. I have 3 one-day base tickets and 3 10-day tickets with non-expiring option that we bought during our May visit. I would be ticked if they were not on the hotel keys. We are going again in December. Maybe I should bring all those keys to have them scanned to make sure the park tickets are still on them. What a hassle! I didn't want to scan them before I left in May for fear that a CM while checking might demag. our room keys.

We may not return again for two years :sad2: so I am worried since we have 4 base tickets and that's a lot of money for us! I feel that our TA should have informed me that we could save them, because then I would have gotten something from the front desk. She knew we had AP's. But now she's called, and emailed me with the name of the person who said they would be good next time round, and I've saved that letter. The CM said tho to keep the keys in good condition. I sure hope they can find them when we get finally get there, and I sure hope they are on there to begin with!!

To make sure everything goes smoothly I am bringing our AP reciepts to prove we had AP's during our time there, plus the papers from when we checked in showing what we bought, and the keys and the email from my TA. But still, I shouldn't even have this worry :worried: .

While still at the resort(at check in) can they still be converted to paper tickets?
This used to be possible, right?

I don't know but I would think so? It would save alot of trouble if the room key was messed up in the future, but if not then make sure and get a letter from front desk on check out saying that they were unused and still good.

no, you can't get it converted. I tried in September to do this as we too have APs and 1-day base tickets.

I'm just holding on to my room cards, confirmation letters and all the paperwork just in case.

In Sept I bought a 7 day MYW tickets with pluses, because that's what everyone else in the room had. I asked at check-in to have the ticket removed from my room key and to get a regular MYW ticket in place of it. After checking with several people the CM at POP told me that wasn't possible, but assured me that as long as I didn't activate the ticket by putting it in a turnstyle that it would be good for life. On our last day I went to guest relations at MK and again asked for a regular MYW ticket. The CM, without hesitation, said they couldn't do it, but he did scan my room key to verify it had not been activated and told me it would be good for life regardless of the dates on the room key.

Hmm ... A glitch that would only be noticed by those folks who used different tickets (such as AP's) for their package vacation and saved their (required) package tickets for a future vaation.

Since the package tickets were meant, although not required, to be used during the package vacation, there is probably no standard procedure to deal with this glitch.

Better to have the tickets scanned the day before checkout instead of being pressed for time on your way back to the airport. Maybe the most discreet way to ask is to go through the motions of saying you will have "days left over" and asking that the ticket privileges be transferred to a separate card from the room key.

Still,
* Package tickets are normally put on your room key.
* Expiring MYW tickets do not expire until after 13 days after day of first usage. (And non-expiring tickets never expire as has been heavily advertised)
* Room keys have codes on the back just as ordinary tickets do.
* The guest cannot tell the usage on the ticket just by looking at the ticket.
* The legal principle is that when one party to a deal (or contract or transaction) makes (invents; defines) the rules, any doubts (ambiguities) should be resolved in favor of the other party.
Therefore the guest has a good case that Disney should prove that the tickets were used and when, otherwise re-issue the tickets to the guest as unused. All the guest should need to do including on the next visit is show that a package was purchased on a certain date and with such and such kind of tickets, and present the room keys and other tickets used not visibly mutilated.

Saving all of the paperwork and bringing it with you is a great idea. The CM at Epcot asked me for mine but I didn't have it with me (it was in the car). He was able to call the Contemporary (where we stayed) and get the required info.

He then just had to trust me that I had not used the one day ticket that should have been on the room key (of course, I was able to show him my AP), because he said that the CMs cannot distinguish between a room key that has never had any park tickets on it, and one that had the park tickets on it that were completely used up.
