with staying off site, and doing half days at the parks. I would like to visit a park in the morning, return to Vistana Resort for lunch, and then visit another park in the afternoon. Am I crazy or can this be done with out many problems. My travel dates are Sept. 13-21. I plan to spend 2 days at US and IOA, and 4 days at Disney. I will be renting a car while I am there also. I got a lot of negative advice against going back to VR on another board since I am staying off site, but thought I would get some responce from others that are staying off site.

Thanks for all help and opinions, Melissa

I don't see any problem with your plan. Vistana is maybe 15 minutes from most, if not all, the parks. And with your own car it should be a cinch. Sounds like a good way to break up the day---if that's your intent. If you still think it may be a problem, plan on doing it for a day or two on a trial basis and have alternative plans in the event you find it doesn't work....the best attribute at WDW is being flexible...don't feel compelled to plunge ahead if things arent working out....and have fun........:bounce:

You won't have any trouble at all. I'm a timeshare owner at Vistana and do this all the time. The only park that takes any real amount of time to enter and exit is the MK and this is because you have to catch the monorail/ferry to the TTC and then get the tram to your car. It can take as much as 20 minutes to get out of this park. But beyond this, Vistana is a 10-15 minute drive to and from any park.

We do this a lot when staying off site, especially when we take my 79 yr. old Mom with us. We leave after lunch and go back to our hotel/motel to rest then take in a different park in the late afternoon. It always works out great for us. I don't think you'll have a problem.

Yep, we do this all the time, too. We stay in rental homes at west 192 in Kissimmee and we always take a break at sometime during the day - either after lunch, or late afternoon.

The trip (including getting out of the parks, back to the parking lot and driving 'home') takes anything from 15-40 minutes depending on the park (as MiaSRN62 says, MK is the worst because you have to get back to the TTN).

We find that time out and a dip in the pool means we are raring to go again for our second stint of the day, and we feel we get much more out of the day than we would if we tried to keep going.

Thanks for all the responses. I guess when I got the negative vibe against going back to the resort, I should have just figured that it was by people that always stay on Disney property. I am happy to hear positive feedback. The big reason we even need to go back to VR is because my little girl will be 25 months old then, and I know she will need a break from the excitement or she will never take a nap.

Thanks again, Melissa

First Trip to Disney for my family- Sept. 13-21st, 2002

As you can see by our list of Disney visits (below), we've stayed at Vistana Resort and at several onsite Disney properties. It takes no longer to drive between the parks and Vistana than it does to travel by bus to one of the moderates. It was quicker to get between MK and Vistana than to get between MK and the All Stars - the wait at the bus stop offsets the ride on the monorail!

That said, the only difficulty I see has nothing to do with your choice of resorts. At that time of year, the parks close early. So you may find that you have very little time to visit the attractions during your late afternoon return. Ending the days at Epcot will lengthen them.

But if your little one cannot settle into a decent nap unless she is tucked into a crib/bed in a darkened, cool & quiet room, I don't blame you for trying it. Every travel group will only enjoy their busy Disney trip as much as the weakest link in the group. When the first one hits their limit, everyone hits their limit. So you are wise to try to plan for down time when you know it will be needed. Enjoy your vacation! :)
