Have any locals visited since the Genie debut?

I'm curious how your strategy has changed. Obviously we won't be purchasing Genie + so I'm curious how Genie affects things

We’re going to magic kingdom later today. Zero plans to purchase Genie+. I guess we’ll try to ride a few things standby. But we’ve got an 8 year old and a 5 month old so we’re not going to spend a ton of time in line with a baby. If it’s too much waiting we’ll just leave. We only live about 10-15 minutes from parks so I’ve got no problem leaving and going home if the waits are too long.

Please keep us updated. I'm 20 mins away and have an 8 year old and a 4 year old. It looks like we will be doing a lot less rides in the future

As a local, we've watched stand-by wait times throughout the day since Genie+ ... and for many attractions it has gone back to being similar to when the original fast pass system was in effect. In general, for most rides you will see shorter wait times and get more accomplished in the first hour or so that the park is opened, and also towards the end of the night. For some of the popular attractions LL fills up in the mornings and causes longer stand-by lines, but then may taper off as the day progresses, leaving much shorter stand-by waits later on. (This is because Genie+ only allows users one LL pass per attraction per day, and many guests grab their favorites during the AM).

So if you want to ride a lot of rides with minimal wait times in stand-by... it may be beneficial to either go early (at opening) or go later in the evening. When we are in a park during the busy times of late mornings through early afternoon, we just take it easy and realize we won't be accomplishing as many actual attractions. But that is okay, since we are local APs who can come back and do other things on another day.

We are local but haven't visited a park since Genie rolled out. I have no intention of purchasing any of the Genie add-ons. We've been to the parks so much that we seldom do attractions anyway. If the mood hits, we will do an attraction as long as the standby wait time is "acceptable" - a term that varies for us day by day or even hour by hour. Certainly nothing longer than 30 minutes.
