Have a question about storing perishables

We're hiring a car service from MCO to RPR and will arrive at the hotel approximately noon on our first day. We're planning on doing a grocery stop prior to arrival to pick up beverages and I'd like to pick up a little lunch meat and cheese for a couple of fast sandwiches during the week we're there to help hold down food costs. I'm bringing a collapsible cooler so keeping these items cold isn't an issue.
However, if our room isn't ready when we arrive is there a way to store the perishables with bell services? At worst I can pull the cooler out of the luggage, take it and fill with ice and then leave the filled cooler with them. Just wondering if there was an easier way I'm overlooking.

you might want to call the hotel direct with that question.

i don't know the answer to it.

i can not recall any similar posting in the past regarding bell services help for needed refridgeration for food items.

let us know when you do find the answer!

i'm sure the hotel will help out for medication that needes refridgeration but no idea about lunch meat.

(for meds, the guests can receive a free mini fridge.)

I think I figured out a reasonable approach. Throw some frozen gel packs in the cooler the morning we leave for US. Drop the perishables in the cooler after the grocery store run and then just check it in with the luggage to be held at the resort if the room's not ready when we get there.

I would just pick up a frozen bag or peas or corn when you are at the store - throw them into the cooler with the lunch meat- they don't cost more than a $1

Then for the rest of the week keep the cooler filled with a ziplock bag of ice.

Why carry the gel packs on the plane? and they will prob get warm by the time you get to US

What a GREAT idea! Thanks! That's why I love coming here when I'm trip planning, someone can always figure out a better way to do something.:)

What would be easier is to take some zip lock bags with you. Then when you get to the hotel after checkin at the front desk you can go right down one of the tower halls (tower 2 is right beside luggage service) to the ice room and fill it up. Return to the luggage cart and put it in the bag. Im sure if you told one of the bellhops they might run down the hall and do it for you. Very easy problem solved no food waste.:thumbsup2

We take a big rolling cooler and fill it at home before we leave then keep topping off during the trip. Luggage service has stored it along with our luggage a few times..

When you stop for your groceries, buy a bag of ice at the store and put it in your cooler. Problem solved (oh, don't open the bag of ice if you can...so no melted ice leaks).

Have the baggage services hold it with your luggage.

We've done that numerous times.
