Have a question about magic band /ticket

When is the ticket portion of the magic band active on the day you check in? This is the first trip we have had with the magic band, usually have annual passes. We arrive in Orlando on Friday but staying off site for first night and then moving on site on Saturday. I would like to take advantage of the full day in the parks on Saturday.Does the ticket portion activate on the date or when I actually check in at the resort? I plan to do the online check in before we arrive. Just need to know what plan of action to take, if I need to go by resort, I will wake early and go by there while the rest of the family gets ready and then we can drive to the park from our offsite hotel. Then for our midday break, we can go over and check in to the actual room and unpack.

Also, if we do drive to the park, will the magic band let them know we are onsite guests and not have to pay for parking or do I need something else with me?

When you do the online check-in, present that you will arrive by 7:00 or 8:00AM.

Your tickets will be active when you get to the park gates that day without any need to go to the WDW resort.

BTW, if you'd like (and your plans change to fit this,) you can actually use your package tickets up to 10 days before you check into your WDW package resort.

In THAT case, all you need to do is take your package info to any Guest Relations outside any WDW park, or at TTC, or at DS/DTD and the CM will activate your package tickets on-the-spot.

Yes, this is correct. As long as you arrive after the computer roll over for the day, which is 6 AM, you will be recognized as a resort guest.

I second Robo's advice to complete online check in and indicate you plan to arrive at 7 AM.
