I don't need a park hopper but on one day not sure if we want to stay at epcot or DHS for the whole day. Wouldn't mind spending the extra money for 7 day pass and splitting one day between the two. Or even half day epcot and the other MK

Nope, cannot do that. You can only use one ticket per day if you have a base ticket. To be admitted to two parks in one day you need to have either a park hopper or an annual pass.

As the previous poster said, no not possible. If you want to hop, you have to pay for the park hopper add on.

I mean, you technically could buy 1 day passes to whatever park you want to hop to and use that, but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to just add on park hoppers to your tickets.

No, you can either add park hopper to your passes, or buy a totally separate 1-day ticket.

We already have a 6 day base ticket and adding a seventh day is only 10$ extra per person. So I was thinking of using two base tickets in one day since we would only hop one day out of the 6

You would need to add park-hoppers to your 6 day tickets. You won't be able to use two days of a 7 day tickets on one day. That's not possible with Disney rules. You can however by a new 1 day base ticket, but that would be way more than the park-hoppers for your 6 day ticket. It's about $78 to add on park-hopper to a 6 day ticket.

The reader at the gates wouldn't let you into a second park. The programming won't let you use two days tickets in the same day. If it did everyone would be doing that.

As people have already said, the programming in the turnstiles would not let you use 2 days off your base tickets for entrance to two parks. This is to encourage people to upgrade to park hoppers. You would literally have to purchase totally separate tickets and use those, and the cost of that is most likely higher than adding the park hopper option onto your tickets. You're making the mistake of thinking of the base tickets as a number of entitlements to enter the park, like the water park fun & more option you can add to your tickets. It is not a number of entitlements - where if you added the water park fun & more option for your length of stay (let's say 6 days) you would have 6 visits. You could visit Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon in the same day and use 2 entitlements in one day. With the park tickets you cannot do that. It is not number of entitlements, but actual number of days you can use the pass to enter ONE park.

Thanks. Makes sense otherwise everyone would do it and not purchase the hopper

Exactly.

We ALL wish they would allow it; don't get anyone wrong here. We just know that WDW has already seen through our evil ploys. :)
