Have 3g unlimited with verizon but would like used Iphone

My dd has Verizon Palm Pixi 3g unlimited data, on a month to month (contract ran out) . For bday I want to get her used older Iphone, will I be forced to upgrade? She doesn't care about 4g services, just would like the Iphone for camera and music stuff.

If you purchase a used iPhone outright from someone then you will be able to just switch out her phone and not change your contract.

If you purchase a subsidized phone (using a 2yr upgrade discount price, etc) then your plan will change.

This is exactly what my friend who works for Verizon told me. Your contract only changes if you make a change to your plan (change the number of minutes, add another line, etc) OR if you get a subsidized phone from them.

My husband and I both have Droid's with unlimited data packages, the account is in my name. Son #2 bought the new Iphone 5 and switched from AT&T onto my account, and I did not have to change my plan. Son #1 is also on account and has a smart phone. I plan to see how much data actually gets used, then compare the costs with my current plan versus the new share everything plan.

For me I I saved a whopping 10.00/mo but lost a lot of data allowance. ( we had 4GB x 3 phone plus a mifi with 5GB.

I got through to Verizon and they said if I buy my own phone not through them I will not have to change my service at all. I hope she was correct, I bought used phone on ebay, and hope and all works out.
