I need you guys to take a look at my ADR's and give me some advice. I know, I KNOW I've made too many, but we just can't get enough of character meals and we love the "experience" of some of the restaurants. I don't mind paying OOP for some, I just want to make sure I'm paying for the right ones (least expensive). I've put an *asterisk for the ones paying OOP. It will be me, DH, and DD5.

Cape May Cafe Buffet (Breakfast)
Boma (Dinner)
Crystal Palace (Breakfast)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (Dinner)
Hollywood & Vine (Fantasmic Package)
San Angel Inn (Dinner)
*'Ohana's (Breakfast)
*CRT (Lunch) (Should I pay for this one? Expensive but frees up 6 credits.)
Princess Storybook (Lunch)
Le Cellier (Dinner)
1900 Grand Park Fare (Dinner)
*Donald's Breakfastaurus (Breakfast)
*Grand Floridian Cafe (Lunch) (Just DH and me...DD will be at the Wonderland Tea Party)
Chef Mickey's (Dinner)

So what do you think? Am I paying for the right ones? I know I could free up credits by paying for all of DD's meal OOP, but I just don't like doing that. And please...before we start yet another debate of adult vs. child credits...I'm aware that this is allowed, I just do not feel comfortable with it.

Ok. I see what you are saying--let's look at value per dining credit I'd say pay OOP for any character breakfasts as they will not exceed 25 pp per adult.
Unless CRT is 50 pp adult, pay OOP even though it is pricey. I agreed you paid for DD as a child and you should use those as intended and you are still getting a great value for that $10.00 especially with the choices you have made for TS.

I would probably pay OOP for CRT lunch, because like you said, even though it's expensive, it would be cheaper in the long run to use those 6 credits elsewhere and the cost of the 6 meals you paid for shouldn't be more than the one lunch.

I might think about paying OOP for San Angel Inn, just because when we ate there, the portions were plenty big enough for DH and I to share and adult meal and our boys (5 and 2, but big eaters for their ages) to share a child's meal and have some leftover. Of course, the all you can eat meals you can't share, but it might be something to think about.

Since you're doing the Princess Storybook Lunch, do you absolutely need to also do CRT? I mean, it's expensive (both credits and OOP) and the menu is limited. If you haven't ever eaten there, okay, fine, once. But if you've been there before, I'd honestly skip that.

How long is your vacation? We found that we got absolutely sick of eating last trip. Our new plan is no more than one sit-down per day regardless of which meal it is. Several times we ended up just ordering appetizers and desserts (our favorites anyway, lol). Check the menus and perhaps pay out of pocket for shared meals or just appetizers/desserts?

Have fun and remember too that it will be hot in late June and your appetite will decrease.

Kanga1 I think you should defo pay OOP for CRT lunch ...it is exactly what we plan to do. Iam having the same concerns as you . We too are on the dining plan and Iam going a bit crazy on the character meals for our dd6.
This is what we have planned for 7nights in August. :goodvibes

Chef mickeys 6pm
Sc-fi diner 5.40pm
PSB norway lunch 12.40pm
Boma 5.40pm
CRT breakfast 8.10am
Ohana 7pm
Toy story breakfast (when it comes out) 9am
Whispering canyon 6pm
Crystal palace 1pm

We also have planned the perfectly princess tea party for dd and I and the wonderland tea party with alice. :cheer2:

Iam starting to wonder how on earth we will fit it all in...But as it is August I tell myself it will at least get us into some AC. :thumbsup2

Poor ds 14 is going to get to meet too many characters for his liking. :teeth:

I'm chiming in w/ another vote to pay OOP for CRT! This is also what we're doing in June. At first I was going to use 8 TS credits (for the 4 of us), but, then, I decided to free up those credits for 2 more meals. The way I look at it is - I've already pre-paid for CRT (4 months before our trip), so why use up the credits? Plus, I think we'll come out cheaper, as you said, by paying OOP for CRT (the total cost for us is $135.40) & then using the TS credits elsewhere.

We're staying 7 nights & will have 28 TS credits (4 x 7). I've currently got ADR's for 10 TS meals.

Following are the TS meals where we plan to use our TS credits:

1. Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner, 4 TS credits) = 4 TS used
2. Mama Melrose FDP (dinner, 4 TS credits) = 8 TS used
3. Crystal Palace (lunch, 4 TS credits) = 12 TS used
4. Garden Grill (lunch, 4 TS credits) = 16 TS used
5. San Angel Inn (dinner, 4 TS credits) = 20 TS used
6. PSB (breakfast, 4 TS credits) = 24 TS used
7. Whispering Canyon Cafe (dinner, 4 TS credits) = 28 TS used

Following are the TS meals where we plan to pay OOP:

1. Donald's Breakfastasauras (or the new Toy Story meal)
2. Chef Mickey's (breakfast)

I'm estimating around $65.00 total for each of these which would be around $130.00 - $150.00 (depending on tip, etc.) for both.

And, then we've already pre-paid for our CRT lunch ($135.40).

Anyway, I've said all that to say I'm thinking the same way you are! :thumbsup2 :teeth:
