I know the Haunted Mansion had a refurb in December. I was wondering what they changed to it? I know I read they might do a in ride photo or video but I can't find where they have done any of this?!?!?

The gift shop had nothing to do with the haunted mansion refurb as its a separate building.

But yes the gift shop opened up in November I think it was.

It was reinvigorated, energized, and had instilled in it a renewed will to persevere.

They did add some hidden Jacks for you to find. I think there are 6 or 7 TNBC pieces throughout the ride that involve either Jack or Sally.

The closure was more for maintenance and general updates

Memento Mori opened in what used to be the Yankee Trader shop in Liberty Square. Nothing to do with the ride refurb.

That was open when we were there in Oct.
I was so sad HM was closed in Dec. It was DGD's first trip and I wanted her to see it.
Now she will be going to DLR in Dec. and her first experience will be with the HMHoliday version there.

I hope you guys have an awesome time at DL in December! I would love to go there some day. It would be great to see HM with the Christmas overlay, too. Enjoy!

I've been there plenty. I do enjoy the HM Holiday overlay......but also glad it goes back to regular.

I was there in November (before the refurb) and then back again in February (after refurb). I could swear I saw an upgrade to the hitchhiking ghosts headswap photos at the end of the ride. It wasn't a huge thing but I definitely noticed an enhancement and new detail to the headswap. Maybe I'm just imagining things & I need the headswap now! Or maybe I just lost my mind in the HM. Guess its as good of a place as any to lose my marbles.

Okay I'm an old timer so my view of the HM is colored by my first memories of the ride. I remember it as being darker which it was. They had issues with guests doing stupid things and getting hurt due to how dark it was. I remember it being much more scary with ghosts popping out from behind grave stones accompanied by loud noises.

People didn't copy the entry room dialogue "there's always my way out" etc.... Because some people were riding for the first time and didn't know what was going to happen.

I know one can never recapture the emotions of a Jr High kid on the ride for the first time and I really don't expect to however the ride just doesn't have the same impact it once did.

That being said its still fun and nostalgic. The hat box ghost IS cool but it's still not as good as it once was.
