Haunted Mansion Story - A Bit OT, But Worth It!

I just have to share this!

We were last in WDW in Oct. 04. It was my 2 year old son's 3rd trip and he loved Disney! He especially liked the Haunted Mansion. My DH loves the HM, too, so we're thinking it's genetic - just like our general love of Disney!

But now our son's love of HM has turned to obsession! We have the soundtrack from the HM movie (with Eddie Murphy) and there are two versions of the song "Grim Grinning Ghosts." My DS calls them "the good one" (which is the one by Barenaked Ladies) and "Doo Doo" (which is the one that the busts in the cemetary sing. We also have a WDW CD with songs from the park and that has the whole HM ride song, with narration and all. So my DH made a CD of these three HM songs and everytime we're in the car my DS sings along to all three songs. And I can't describe how cute it is when he sings "grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize." Yes, he sings that whole line. We're going to capture him on video one of these days. It's really the cutest thing.

The HM has alway been my favorite! Now we're the obnoxious people who recite the opening monologue along with the host while in the stretching room!

We've been a bit disappointed in the past few years...the cast members used to open the doors and say (in their best graveside voice), "We need more bodies", but they don't seem to do that anymore. There was one guy a couple years ago that was great! We were happily reciting along with the Ghost Host and the CM came up behind me unnoticed. In his graveside voice, he leaned over and said in my ear, "Been here before?" I nearly jumped out of my skin!

That story was so great to read....and thanks for sharing...I especially love it when the CM use their 'grave-like' voices and look sooooo creepy....it makes HM so worth the trip! And how can you not love the hitch hiking ghosts at the end?! Gotta love that!

Trust me, I totally understand your son's obsession. My DS (5) can recite the entire narration at the beginning of the attraction "When hinges creak in Dora's chambers...." It is the cutest thing EVER. He was also the first one to notice the eyes move on the gravestone closest to the doorway, even though I have been on that ride how many upteen thousand times before he was ever born????
