Haunted Mansion Secrets

Thanks! I'll have to look for the pet cemetery the next time I am there.
:bounce:

tc mentioned that chess pieces can be found on the exterior of the WDW Haunted Mansion.
But, do you know which chess piece is missing, and why? (Ace, give somebody else a chance!) ;)

James...

How funny (I actually laughed out loud at your post)! :teeth:

You read my little mind...

:smooth:

Here is one bit of trivia that hasn't been mentioned...

In the graveyard scene, before you get to the opera singers, there is a fairly new spectral image in the doorway of a mausoleum. If you look at it's raised left hand, the image is holding a hidden mickey!

Check it out!

I tried to get a pic of it last time - but ride is moving to fast to really focus!

Oh, and the missing chess piece is the Knight - because it's always 'night' inside the HM!

i bought this book on my trip in november and think it's great! a must have for hm fans::yes::

I agree! Between this book and the doombuggies site, you can find everything you need to know (or didnt need to know) about the HM!!:scratchin

That book is fantastic- i just borrowed it from the library here. It dispells many rumors as well, about the "chess pieces" on the buidling (not true, just the architectural style they were going for) and the one-winged bat (it's two winged, like he said, one is just folded down.)

It also talks about who those busts are -- and no, one of them isn't Walt, though many people think that.

It's a great read for any avid HM fan!

Sherri :)

yep - the grim reaper's left hand (his left, our right) is actually a hidden mickey! a very clear one too...you just have to lean forward and to the right of your doombuggy to see it!

v. v. cool!

yeah, it's pretty hard to see unless you're looking for it.. and is the only "offically recognized" Hidden Mickey in the attraction. (You will often notice the plates on the ballroom table put back to their original places from time to time, getting rid of the HM).

:teeth:

When we went the HM plates were the last setting on the side of the table closest to the ride. Not sure if its the same all the time.

I love the Hidden Donald on the backs of the upholstered chairs. The 2nd one is espically clear. Fun to catch them.

2angels,

As this is not an "official" Hidden Mickey, the Imagineers will often put the plates back in their original spot (as they were when I went last week). Fun to look for it, though! And yes, it's always the last setting on the far left. :teeth:

This isn't HM but at Phantom Manor in the tower window, if you look real closely, you see the phantom. Erieeeeeeeee.

The hallway with the floating candelabra is actually a long hallway. Not many people know that.

I like the effect of the doombuggy "falling out of the window" into the graveyard. Also look for the ghost under the table in the ballroom.

in the room were they take handicaps there are keys to the attic, basement, and others but the key to the attic is not there anyone who knows the story will get what i'm saying

Unless they changed it I thought that the only official hidden mickey in the HM was in the hands of the bride in the attic before she pushes you out the window and into the graveyard.... I dont ever remember there being a hidden mickey in the graveyard its self....

Ok, did I miss it?? The question about the rose has been asked a couple of times, but I haven't seen an answer. Don't keep me in suspense!!!!

I have a picture of the pet cemetary in 'my pictures'. Is there a way to post it on this board? Are we allowed to do that?
