I have heard it rumored that Jennifer Tilly, who at some point will be the woman's head in the crystal ball, if the movie is a giant success, it is in her contract that her face will be the new face on the actual ride.

I hope that this is not true.

wow, i REALLY hope that's not true.

I suspect that Disney is savvy enough and been at this long enough to include use of likeness rights in the contracts with the actors.....especially after the robin williams issue.

Gawd... I never stop wondering about those who make the decisions for Disney, and hoping it was the ones that keep them afloat, the guests...

Me too. I don't think I've heard that before.

About Jennifer, she was on The Wayne Brady show yesterday and said that this was in her contract. So if they do decide to make changes to the ride she will be the new face in the ball. But from the clips I've seen she doesn't look all that different from the current one.

This goes all the way back to Aladdin, but Robin Williams was extremely unhappy with the final outcome of the movie. My understanding all voice talent in the films are paid union scale for voice work, whatever that is.

The movie, of course, was a huge hit, almost entirely due to Mr. Williams' shall we say unique and frenetic humor (Tangentially, how in the world did he live through the late 70's and early 80's? Trivia question, who was the 2nd to last person to see John Belushi alive? Robin Williams.)

Robin felt he'd been exploited by Disney, and he expressed this feeling frequently and loudly. Disney's solution? They sent him a Picasso as a small token of their gratitude.

You know, I really bleed for my employer. A raise of bonus would be okay, but a Picasso would be a more appropriate gesture, don't you think?

I dont know the whole story, but, yes, it dates to Aladdin. But the reason he did not do the second (straight to video) movie was due to some kind of disputes over Disney's use of his likeness (voice). They ironed it all out so that he signed on for the third.......something along those lines.

That quote from Jennifer Tilly was also in yesterday's USA Today in a story about the premiere. What gall! I almost don't want to go see it because I don't want her to replace the original.
Robin M.

I'd prefer they stick with the original Leota.

I just saw an interview with her on tv. She said that theres a clause in her contract that says if Dinsey referbishes the ride they may use her likeness. So in her words, if they referbish it, there's a slim chance it would be her head on the ride.

I just saw her interview with Good Morning America, this morning... and yes she said once again, that there is a clause in her contract saying if the movie does "super duper well", then she will be replacing madame Leota in the ride with herself.

Hearing this made me groan and think no way do I want to see her replace Madame Leota. Makes me not want to see the movie just in case it's true.

hmm, guess i'll make sure i go to a matinee, and not the more expensive night time entrance.

Anyone we can write to at Disney to show our dis-taste of this possibility??
